Where is Spring???
March 11, 2009 9:40 am UncategorizedOk, so this weather is starting to get really really weird. One day it’s like 70 degrees and then the next we have snow. Not cool!
I think my sister got hit the worst by this. She told me that one day she was taking a nap in her back yard in the sun, the next day she was freezing.
I know it’s not just this way here in Utah, it seems like everyone is having some weird weather this year. Or maybe this is normal and I just forget each year that this is how it goes. I’m not sure honestly, but it really get’s annoying. It’s like March can’t decide what season it wants to be in.
Make up your mind March!

I don`t think we’re gonna have spring. It is only winter and summer. I can`t wait to feel the summer!

You’re right, it’s not just Utah. Texas has been a little crazy this month also.

I am in Florida, and this past week (April 5 and 6), we had Frost/Freeze warnings! Just planed a bunch of plants, but it really wasn’t very bad. Just the thought of having freezing weather in April in Florida is so unusual!

All I can say is that it is certainly not here in Chicago. We have lots of snow in the upcoming forecast with not much sign of it letting up for a while.

The weather is really strange and I’m sure it will continue to get strange because of the climate change phenomenon. We will just have to prepare ourselves for whatever will happen later.

Where is Spring?
The first day of spring (celebrated on the day of the astronomical vernal equinox, which usually occurs on 21 March or the previous or following day depending on where it is observed) is the beginning of the new year, Nowruz, in the Iranian calendar. Nowruz (also Naw-Rúz, Norooz, Newroz, Navroj, and many other variants) which means “New Day” in Persian language, marks an important traditional holiday festival celebrated in Iran as well as in many other countries with a significant population from one of various Iranian peoples, such as Azerbaijan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, and by Kurdish communities in Turkey and Iraq and elsewhere.
Personally, it is the time for warmer weather and garden cultivation. But anyway…
Spring is one of the four temperate seasons, the transition period between winter and summer. Spring and “springtime” refer to the season, and broadly to ideas of rebirth, renewal and regrowth. The specific definition of the exact timing of “spring” varies according to local climate, cultures and customs. At the spring equinox, days are close to 12 hours long with day length increasing as the season progresses.
At any rate… I’ll be glad when Spring gets here! No myths, legends, or folklore about it; ha-ha!
