Turn Your Brights Off!!!

Bright Headlights At 40 At Night by frozenchipmunk, FlickrOk, it’s time to gripe a little bit about a pet peeve that I have.  For all of you who drive in the city, and that includes pretty much everybody, TURN YOUR BRIGHTS OFF!!!

Last night I was on my way home from a small family get together when a truck that already had a lift on it pulls in behind me with his brights on.  Do you think that we can’t see you???  So I spend the next 5 miles or so having to sit really funny in my car so that I can avoid the glaring light bouncing off all of my rear-view mirrors.

I just don’t understand it.  I’ve heard someone comment before that they will sometimes use their brights just to make sure that people see them.  Yep, we see you alright.  Thanks for blinding everybody and causing them problems!  I honestly feel it is one of the most inconsiderate things that you can do while driving.

Now of course I’m not talking about the times that you do this by accident.  I think that’s happened to a lot of people and can be expected.  But for those of you that purposely use your brights everywhere you go, please have some common courtesy and use your headlights the way they were meant to be used!

Gripe over ;-) .

I couldn’t agree more. Some people can be really inconsiderate of other drivers. Blinding other people with your headlights (by accident or not) can be pretty dangerous. These people should know better.

This is a pet peeve of mine as well. Especially when they are riding behind you, you get the light through the side mirrors and your rearview, it is very distracting.

lol I agree…no one wants to feel like their entering a spiritual experience because the light is so damn bright! ;). Maybe you can give them a break check (if behind you)…that will either stop them from doing it or flickering it of and on ;p

I am not sure from which you are from. I am from India. The same problem exists here. We have talked a lot about it before. but those truck drivers do it with some motive and others for their ignorance.

I’m not sure why lights are needed in the city. Aren’t there street lights? Turn them off people!

ooOOO I hate that! Makes me want to get an SUV and do right back at them. It sucks when you’ve got a low car and the light is literally like rays coming through the clouds.

There are modifications for that. The lamps won’t be much glaring after modifications.

Of course, i hate those kinds of drivers too! the brights will cause accidents if we don’t use it the right way.

Yes brights do cause lot driving probs. but especially heavy vehicle drivers sue them at night. They think they are the only one having full rights on road.

I solve this problem by shooting out as many lights as I can while I’m in the passenger seat of a car.

This really angers me, can’t people see the bright blue light on their dashboard that tells you you’ve got those lights on!!!

I got hit in the eye with a golf club when I was 5 and with that found that I had a muscle imbalance. I had surgery later on when I was about 15 or 16 and it fixed the problems I was having. Recently though I have been noticing either people are not switching from their high beams, or have those very bright blue style headlights. They both bother me to no end as I do not get done work until later and drive in the dark mostly now. I mostly see the really bright lights in BMWs and Audis.

There are so many inconsiderate drivers on the road these days. The worse ones are those that fit high powered bulbs that are brighter than most people’s brights! They really get my cheese off.

People can sometimes get inconsiderate. There are a lot of times when I was quietly crossing the street then suddenly this car appears and I was a bit frozen on the spot. Not because of surprise, but because I was blinded by his stupid headlights!
