Tried a $1 Energy Drink Today…

2:42 pm Food

As many of you probably know, at least if you’re read this blog at all, I’m a fan of the energy drinks Rockstar and Monster.  Now admittedly, I only drink 1-2 a week, but even then I feel like I need to cut back.  Anyway, this morning was a little different.

You see, usually i’ll buy these when they are like 2 for $3 or something like that because I don’t believe in spending the full $2 or $3 for one.  But this morning at my local grocery store none of my favorites were going for that price.

But there was one going on sale at 10 for $10.  I figured, “What the heck, I’ll try the $1 energy drink and see how it is!”  So I looked them over and picked up a Wired energy drink, some berry flavor.

All I can say is that I’m sticking with Monster and Rockstar!  This stuff really didn’t taste that good.  I think it has potential, but it tasted too much like a regular energy drink with just a hint of other flavor.  The reason that I like some of the Monster and Rockstar flavors so much is that they don’t taste like your regular energy drinks!

So I’m sticking with my Monster Khaos and my Rockstar NoCarb for now.  At least until I kick the habit entirely, which I honestly need to do….

you could do a placebo effect of mixing soda water with over-concentrated kool-aid to get through withdrawal symptoms. it’d taste about the same. :-D

omg engergy drinks are so terrible for your body, if you have to have a little kick, maybe you could try drinking a little bit of pepsi or mt.dew so that you do not get a headache. But, you should really try hard to not drink them, try a morning energy powder that you mix with water! Good Luck!!!

Well…. its $1 so what did you expect? A $3 dollar drink for $1? Isn’t all energy drinks bad for you and not just the cheap ones?

$1 dollar is cheap for an energy drink, I suppose. I couldn’t imagine spending 2 or 3 dollars for one - such a waste of money.
You’d be better off just buying a bottle of ginseng capsules and drinking cheap coffee. Personally, I prefer beer… :P

Have to say most energy drinks taste pretty much like cough medicine to me. My husband however also seems to like the taste of Monster and Red Bull- go figure!?

When I need a boost I simply take an effervescent supplement like Supradyn recharge or Guronsan C. Usually does the trick hopefully without pumping so many artificial components into my system.

I also believe that if one takes decent supplements daily and aims to eat relatively healthily along with getting some exercise, there will be less occassions where energy drinks will be required.

Then again, I love coffee, so to each one their own vices! Haha.

Dan, while $1 is pretty good for any sort of beverage these days, have you considered coffee and a standard B12 vitamin for energy? Probably a bit lower in calories than any true energy drink. And cheaper!
