To Be Close or Far From Family…
June 26, 2008 5:39 pm Random ReviewsSo my wife and I go back and forth on how we feel about this, but lately we’ve really been feeling that we would like to get away from family for awhile. Family is nice and all, and they make great babysitters, but sometimes the drama is just too much if you know what I mean!
It’s funny because we also switch back and forth between which family we’re the most annoyed with. So we’re thinking maybe it would just be good to get away completely for a few years or something. We’ll see what happens.
Anyone else have problems with family? Really, it’s not like any thing major has happened, but sometimes it really just seems like it would be really good for us to get away and be our own family for awhile. Of course, then we would probably have to deal with visits…. now I’m wondering which is worse!

We are lucky in that hubby’s family are about 6 hours away and my mother basically fits in with us.
I don’t know what I’d do if any of them decided to move nearby!
We’ve got my sister~in~law the drama~queen calling in tomorrow in hopes of some interstate attention, so wish me luck.

I am a mother-in-law of the husband and I can’t help but notice that the commenter’s mother fits in but she is happy to be far from hubby’s family. I think it’s ironic and the norm that the husband’s family is found annoying. Do a search on mother-in-law and you will see how many young woman find their husband’s families annoying. You do need your own family without too much interference but families are about putting up with each other. Set the limits, but also try to be patient and ignore the annoyances.

I know what you mean. Honestly, I don’t really enjoy seeing my family. I like being alone or with friends. I can’t be myself around family and it just feels weird.

I know what you mean. It is very easy for me to get sick of my family. I even work with my brother too!

Sometimes family feel so close to you that they don’t understand when to back off the boundary and give you and your family some space!

Actually its the law of opposites, when you are far from family you feel to come back. When you are near you perhaps get bored :)-

I think it is really necessary to learn tolerance if people want to live together with family.
