The Best Jelly for a PBJ

8:42 am Food

Everyone loves a good Peanut Butter & Jelly (PBJ) sandwich! But what is the best jelly to use on your PBJ?

Talk about a random topic right? Well, for the last couple of years I’ve always been using something like strawberry. It was pretty good. But then we ran out of strawberry jam and my wife bought some grape jelly.

At first I thought, “Oh no! What have you done?! What about the strawberries?!” But I figured, “Oh well, I used to use grape as a kid, we’ll try it out again.”

Well, now I’m officially reconverted to grape jelly as the jelly of choice for my PBJ’s. Maybe my hint should have been that it’s a peanut butter and JELLY sandwich, not JAM. There’s something about the grape that it just seems to mix better with the peanut butter. Strawberry just wasn’t strong enough…and now I know!

So what is your favorite flavor of jam or jelly to put on a PBJ?

Dude My favorite is my MOM’s Strawberry Jam. There is nothing out there that can top it! I told her that she had to teach me how to make it so that I will be able to have it forever! I just don’t think that I could go to the store bought crap!

I think any kind of homemade can beat the store bought, but I wouldn’t go with orange marmelade either way!

Mom’s freezer huckleberry raspberry!!! That or store-bought strawberry preserves. Any preserves are always better than jams or jellies.

Strawberry and grape jelly are the two usual jelly we have at our house. But have you ever tasted a guava jelly? It is also okay.I had tasted that jelly in our Technology & Home Economics class when i was in my elementary days.We had our jelly experiment that time using different kind of fruits. But only guava jelly was okay for my taste.About the PBJ combination ,actually i never try it.:)

I think it all just depends on the mood I am in at the time. Sometimes I want strawberry, others it is grape for me.

The best jelly for a PBJ (peanut butter & jelly) sandwich to me, is grape. It is stronger than strawberry, and I also put potato chips inside my sandwich for some added crunch.
However, I must say, I haven’t really experimented with many other jams or jellies, so my opinion is limited to the few that I’ve tried.
Man, it sounds like there is a lot of jam & jelly connoisseurs out there! Enjoy the good eats!
