The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk - Good Idea!
August 20, 2008 3:35 pm Random NewsThere are a lot of strange and sad diseases that one can develop, and I think one of the saddest is Alzheimer’s. I mean, seriously, how sad would it be to get to the point where you really can’t remember certain things?
I remember when I was a teenager we ran into an older man on the street that honestly had no idea where he was or where he was going. We talked to him for a few minutes, and luckily right then someone that knew him came up and helped him get home. It’s a very sad sad thing to see.
Well, to help increase the awareness of and raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, the Alzheimer’s Association has the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk. This is the largest event of it’s kind and takes place in over 600 communities.
By going on a walk like this, you can help the Alzheimer’s Association to help us move closer to a world without Alzheimer’s! If there’s one in your area, I would highly recommend that you consider participating. Each walk is normally 2-3 miles, so it’s not like it’s something you can’t do!

i agree with you here. i think that not being able to remember who you are, or who your family members are, is one of the saddest things that can happen to a human being.
yes, you’re alive, but what’s left is only a hollow shelf of a life.
while i cannot participate in this event, i hope it turns out to be a successful one.

Studies have shown that patients with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease who were more physically fit also had larger brains compared to their counterparts in less stellar shape. So, helping them to walk and do moderate exercise could slow the brain atrophy(shrinkage)

Seriously i wud say the worst disease that any person will not like to have these type of diseases, there was a film i watched, he used to write things in his body and take pics of the personhe meets, so that he can refer to his pics to kno if he knows the particular person.

It’s sad that some people wake can just wake up and not remember anything, be it an extreme case of Alzheimer’s. It’s great that people are getting organized and doing something about it.

I applaud anyone who takes time out of their lives to volunteer for a worthy cause like this. Kudos to you for highlighting it here!
