Tattoos Everywhere!
October 3, 2008 10:33 am Random Observations
So when I was down in Vegas a few weeks ago, I noticed that just about every body had a tattoo. What’s up with that? Is it just me, or are tattoos becoming more and more common these days?
Now I’ll admit that I can totally see getting like a small tattoo or even a tribal arm band or something like that. I think those look cool sometimes.
But what I don’t get is the whole sleeves thing, and other types that just take up huge sections of skin. I saw one girl in the Paris casino that had two giant angel wings tattooed on her back. Kinda crazy.
I remember when I was in South America riding on a bus in the city, and there was this old lady standing at the crosswalk. She was dressed all nice, but she had this monster spider tattoo coming over her neck and down her chest. Just didn’t look right!
But hey, if that’s your thing, go for it! I’m just wondering why it is that they’ve risen in popularity so much lately. Maybe it’s because of shows like Miami Ink!

You know how it goe: all things in pop culture have gotta be overdone before they go out of fashion. Look at the hairstyles of the ’60s. The Beatles had hair that covered their ears and everybody thought the world was ending. Then, by the ’70s… look at George Harrison’s ‘All Things Must Pass’ Album– he has hair to his navel I think.
Anyway, like you I say whatever people want to do is fine, but I do think that at some point tattoo removal machines are gonna really be in demand!
Anyway

Yeah, I’ve already seen billboards for those services popping up from time to time. Maybe it is just a fad for now, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

perhaps it’s part of a person’s search for a way to distinguish himself, make himself unique, and proclaim it loudly to the world. hey, if it works for you, then it should be fine. life’s short after all.

yeah, I could see that as a reason why people do it. Good point!

I have 4 of my own, and would love more. It’s hard to explain the addiction, but that can be a big factor in it (once you get one, you want more..).
It’s definitely become trendy now, and I’ve seen some really bad ink out there because of that, lol.

That’s true, some of them look really really bad. But I can totally understand how once you get one you want more. It actually makes sense, I’m just wondering when and why it became so trendy!

A tattoo might haunt you for the rest of your life if it’s permanent. Just don’t make it in a place of the body normally visible and don’t choose anything too extreme.

Good point! Get something on your back or something not seen very often.

I personally think tattoos are a bit much. It would be one thing if it is on your back or somewhere that is easily covered, but when you get them on your feet or wrist or neck or arms that is another thing. What are these girls gonna do when they have tattoos on there necks and arms and feet when they get married. I think a lot of the problem is the age group that are doing this now is not considering the long run effects.

Maybe they just figure that they’ll get them removed or something. Who knows!
