Who would have thought that Mr. T would be endorsing World of Warcraft? I came across this one today as well and thought it was hilarious as well.
Did any of you ever see that show the Mr. T had for a while called ‘I Pity the Fool’ or something like that? For all I know it’s still running (I don’t watch TV if you couldn’t tell). Hilarious! In the one I saw he took this mean chef and taught how to be more respectful. Good times.
So when my wife and I moved into our new place back in August, we quickly found out that the company that was supposed to connect us with cable was in no rush to actually do it. We even followed up with them a couple of times but were never able to get a hold of someone. So instead of complaining, we decided to just not worry about it and try life without TV.
And you know what, it’s actually been great! So I haven’t really watched TV for several months now and I have to admit that I don’t really miss it. We’ll keep up on some of the shows that we like either by renting the season on DVD or watching it online. For example, I love the show Lost, and we’ve kept up on it by watching it online.
If you’ve never tried going without TV, you should give it a try. Honestly, whenever I watch TV now I’m amazed at the kind of stuff they can show on TV. I was probably just desensitized to it before…
Ok, here’s a random annoyance. Where I work they have these TVs in the room that are always set to CNBC. That’s the first thing, you think we could have something more entertaining on. But here’s the real annoyance. I’ve noticed over the last couple of days that some of the female anchors are wearing progressively brighter clothing.
Is this some sort of contest???
Today one of them is wearing bright yellow, another is wearing bright pink. Yesterday it was orange and white. If the TV wasn’t distracting enough…now every time one of them comes on I have to almost block my eyes from the neon shirts they are all wearing! I swear it’s a contest because it wasn’t this way just a few weeks ago.
Is this really necessary? Do we have to try to brighten up the news by using neon colors? Why not brighten up the news by actually reporting on positive things!
Now I know a lot of you might say, “Well, if it annoys you why not just turn the TV off.” Good point. But every time I do that someone else just turns it back on. So it’s a lost cause. Oh well, hopefully this is just a spring thing….I can only wait and see.
After getting caught up to Season 4 (the current season) of Lost, my wife and I decided to go back and start watching it from the beginning again. Granted, we’ve only been through a few episodes, but knowing what I know now it’s been pretty interesting watching it from the beginning again. Here is a list of things that I’ve realized so far:
I’m glad they killed off Shannon. She was just annoying!
I still don’t like Michael, even from the beginning I didn’t like him, and watching it over again I still don’t like him!
I wish they’d finally answer what the smoke monster is. That’s one of the mysteries that I’m really interested to find out the truth about.
Locke is really interesting even from the very beginning. I still like his character.
What about the ’sickness’ that they talk about in the first couple of seasons? Was that just a left over from the gas that the Others used to wipe out Dharma? Or is it a road they decided to just let die in the story?
Who were the two dead people they find in the caves?
Needless to say, I really like this show. I’m excited to see where they take it from here with all the flash forwards and things! Do you have any other questions you want answered?
One of my co-workers asked me an interesting question yesterday. So we know that when the Super Bowl is over you can buy a t-shirt for the winning team. So what do they do with the t-shirts that are already printed for the other team?
My guess, they probably go to third world countries with all of those black D.A.R.E. shirts that we all used to wear in elementary school. I even heard someone mention that they actually saw some kid wearing a t-shirt with the wrong winning team of a previous Super Bowl on it once.
Now my other question would be how much does it cost for them to print all of the shirts that they aren’t going to use? That’s gotta get a little pricey, but hey - whey you’re charging as much as they do for a 30 second ad during the Super Bowl, I think they can handle it just fine!
And now we also know that the Super Bowl is not just an entertaining sports event, but is actually helping to clothe children in Africa and Asia. How nice!
So I heard on the radio this morning that there is a rumor that the actors are going to go on strike just like the screen writers have gone on strike. The rumor is that they will go on strike sometime in the summer.
Now, I guess on some levels I can sympathize for the screen writers and stuff. I mean, without them there is no show and I can see that they are probably getting shafted. But the actors? Granted, not all actors make the kind of money that the superstars do. I get that. Maybe I just hate strikes. The other thing that is going to be lame about all of this is that you can expect the price of your movie ticket to go up. Isn’t that what always happens when there is a string of strikes like this?
The screen writers want more….then the actors want more…then the set guys are going to want more….then the directors are going to want more…it never seems to end. Forget the price of gas, I’m predicting that the price of a movie ticket in 2009 is going to be $25 a ticket! Then we’ll really hear people complain about how prices are going up!
The great thing is that my TV isn’t hooked up anyway. So if the whole entertainment industry gets all messed up, I really won’t care. So go ahead, strike away. But don’t expect me to start to shell out more and more for movie tickets. I’ll find other means of entertainment. Anybody read a good book lately?
About a year ago my sister got me hooked on ABC’s Lost. I must say, I love this show. The only way I’ve watched it so far is getting the DVDs and watching the whole season. That way I don’t lose track of what’s going on and don’t freak out if I miss a week. But I think I’m going to start watching it the ‘regular way’ this season. Granted, I’ll still probably watch it online so I can watch it when I want to, but I’ll still keep up.
In my opinion there have been very few shows in the last couple of years or even decade that have been this good. It keeps you thinking, keeps you hooked, and is a downright good show. They have great actors playing the parts and the character development is awesome.
So if you haven’t checked this show out, don’t! Haha, at least not until you go back and watch the previous seasons. This is honestly one of those shows that is hard to jump into if you haven’t been watching it from the beginning.
