A few days ago I mentioned a website ZenniOptical.com for getting great deals on frames. Well, I guess I’m not the only one to mention them since it turns out Zenni was featured on Fox News! Click here to see more info: Zenni on Fox.

I have to admit something: I really really don’t like tomatoes. For anyone that really knows me, this comes as no surprise. Sure, I love salsa and all that, or in other words some foods that contain tomatoes, but to eat them plain? You won’t see me do it! I always take them off my hamburgers, sandwiches, etc.
So when I recently heard that there was a salmonella problem with tomatoes, I figured it was just another sign that tomatoes are of the devil. I had a similar feeling a few years ago when there was that E. Coli breakout with spinach. But, I really don’t have it in for spinach like I do for tomatoes, in fact I actually really like cooked spinach. I digress…
For those of you that like tomatoes - good for you. I on the other hand will continue to hate them, and now I even have more good reason to because I really don’t want to risk getting salmonella!

Before I start into this you should probably know that I am not a believer in the whole global warming scare. I think that most of it is just hype and baloney to help guys like Al Gore make extra money. But I found this to be really really funny. I heard about it on Glenn Beck last week, but someone came up with a list of all the things that global warming has been linked to. Not only does it mention them, but it has a reference to the article that it came from as well.
Here’s the list: A complete list of things caused by global warming.
Here are some of my favorites off the list:
- Atlantic less salty
- Atlantic more salty (contradiction???)
- cougar attacks
- crocodile sex
- fashion disaster
- Loch Ness monster dead
- and countless others
So if you want a good laugh at all the hype surrounding global warming, check out the list!

Ok, here’s a random annoyance. Where I work they have these TVs in the room that are always set to CNBC. That’s the first thing, you think we could have something more entertaining on. But here’s the real annoyance. I’ve noticed over the last couple of days that some of the female anchors are wearing progressively brighter clothing.
Is this some sort of contest???
Today one of them is wearing bright yellow, another is wearing bright pink. Yesterday it was orange and white. If the TV wasn’t distracting enough…now every time one of them comes on I have to almost block my eyes from the neon shirts they are all wearing! I swear it’s a contest because it wasn’t this way just a few weeks ago.
Is this really necessary? Do we have to try to brighten up the news by using neon colors? Why not brighten up the news by actually reporting on positive things!
Now I know a lot of you might say, “Well, if it annoys you why not just turn the TV off.” Good point. But every time I do that someone else just turns it back on. So it’s a lost cause. Oh well, hopefully this is just a spring thing….I can only wait and see.

I’m sure most of you have heard by now, but actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment yesterday. This is really a sad story. I never saw any of his “big pictures” like “Brokeback Mountain”, but I will say that every movie I saw him in I thought he was a great actor. “A Knight’s Tale,” “10 Things I Hate About You”…he was great in all of them. And as you might know from this blog, I am very very excited to see his performance of the Joker in “The Dark Knight” this summer.
So the story is that he might have overdosed on some OTC sleeping pills. I read that he had an interview a while back where he mentioned that taking two Ambien would only give him a hour of sleep. I guess the guy was really stressed and maybe in a moment of frustration he took too many. I guess no one really knows.
It’s interesting, but a lot of times people will look up to the celebrities as having it all, always being happy, not a care in the world. But as more and more of these stories come out I hope people are getting the idea that this really is not the case. Heath Ledger had a great showbiz career ahead of him, but that doesn’t mean that he was free from the stress that must come from it.
For those directly affected, you have my condolences.

Normally I wouldn’t care to comment on this type of thing, but since this blog is meant to be about all sorts of topics I figured I’d go ahead and do it.
I’m a little confused by the angle of coverage on things like the shooting that happened recently in Nebraska, and most of the other tragic shootings that have happened in recent years. Does anyone else feel like the media focuses way to much on the shooter?
From what I understand, this kid wrote in his suicide letter that now he would be famous. That’s a really messed up and sick way to justify what you’re about to do. And the media will focus on it: try to figure out why he did what he did, who he really was, and take sympathy for him. Honestly, I don’t know that I really need to know or care. And I don’t mean to be harsh about that.
I’d rather let the families that were made horrible victims of this tragedy know that I care more about them than the criminal, no matter what his story.
My heart goes out to anybody that has been involved in these tragedies. The focus should be on helping them to recover, not finding out more about the killer.
