Halloween Is Upon Us…

Random Thoughts 30 Random Comments

I have to first admit that I don’t really care much for Halloween.  Sure, it was fun as a kid to go around and get a bunch of candy, but after those years were over I lost interest.  But, there are some great memories that come from Halloween!

Trick or Treating

Here’s a tip for the kids: rollerblades!  We hit so many houses so fast when we did it this way!  It’s the best way to get around the neighborhood in a hurry and still look good in your halloween costumes. Just be careful that you don’t have one that’s too long or you might trip on it :)

Company Costume Days

About 6 years ago I worked for a company that really encouraged departments to dress up in themes.  One department was a group of pirates with their gold ‘booty’ (gold chocolate coins).  I can’t remember any of the other ones, but my department was Richard Simmons and his Fat Cronies!

Totally not politically correct, but when did I ever care about that anyway?  So we had the skinniest guy in the group dress up like Richard Simmons and then the rest of us wore sweats and stuffed them so we looked massively fat.  Then we’d all work out together following Richard’s lead.  It was a lot of fun!

For the Kids

Now I just do it for the kids.  It’s really cute to dress the kids up and see them get brave knocking on doors to ask for candy.

Have a great and safe Halloween!  If you need a good costume, check out HalloweenAdventure.com for some great costumes!

Homemade Donuts

Food 17 Random Comments

donutBack on Halloween a friend of mine introduced me to homemade donuts. Technically its a way of cheating, but I still call them homemade. Since having them on Halloween I have done this with my wife twice and I must say that I am convinced that these donuts are the best that I’ve ever had (yes, even better than Krispy Kreme).

So here’s what you do: get a pack of Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits. Open up the canister (this always makes me jump ;-) ) , rip a hole in the middle of the donut, and then put it in hot oil. Let one side cook, then flip it and cook the other side.

Place the donut on a plate covered with napkins or paper towels to absorb the extra oil, then top it with your favorite frosting and enjoy! My personal favorite is cream cheese frosting, but my wife is a big fan of chocolate. I need to try strawberry sometime…

Simple recipe, but man are they good! Give them a try and you might just agree with me that they are better than any other donut you’ve ever tasted!
