I mentioned yesterday that I’m glad to be going back to the gym. Well, one of the hard parts of going back to the gym after not going for awhile is you tend to get really sore the next day!
For example, yesterday I did some hang clean and presses and my shoulders are very very sore today. But you know what they say about working out, no pain no gain. This kind of pain is good. Now of course bad pain doesn’t mean not gain…that means you might have injured something. So don’t take that quote too literally…
Last week I had a similar experience after doing squats. I was sorta gimpy for about 2-3 days. Gotta love it!
All I can say is that if you aren’t going to the gym because you’re afraid of the soreness, get rid of that excuse! The more you work out the less sore you tend to get because you get used to it. So get out there and get some exercise! Make sure to pick up some muscle building supplements to help you in your goals while you’re at it!

I know I already wrote about this recently, but it’s so good to be working out again! Things were so crazy for awhile there that I wasn’t able to do it. I seriously forgot how much I used to enjoy working out, and now that I’m going again I’m quickly remembering!
My goal for this summer is actually to try and bulk up a little bit. You see, I’ve always been one of the skinny guys, ‘ectomorph’ for those of you that know the term. So sometime in my life I think I’d like to stop being just the bean pole. Maybe this is the summer that I make something happen!
Hopefully my wife and I will also be able to get some roller blades soon and I’ll be able to do that from time to time as a cardio workout. To be honest, I’m really looking forward to this summer!

Ahh…. I finally made it back to the gym yesterday and had a great workout! With the baby being born, wife going through surgury, and all that other crazy stuff I haven’t been inside a gym since January!
So now I remember what it feels like to do squats and then not feel the pain until the next day. I’ve always wondered about that, but this time I knew that I’d be sore. But it was worth it!
Honestly I really enjoy working out. Currently I’ll probably only be able to go twice a week, but I have to admit that I’ve missed it. I’ve been doing my best to still get in a workout by doing pushups or using resistance bands, but it really just isn’t the same. One thing I’ve learned though is that you can at least still keep getting exercise when you don’t have access to a gym, you just have to make it happen!

So I think I mentioned before that I’m working on getting back on a fitness routine, but I just wanted to report that it’s going great! Lately I’ve been getting and doing pushups with the Perfect Pushups 3 days a week and then also doing some resistant band exercises and situps at least 2 times a week.
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I’ll be able to start going to the gym again, but that all depends on how my schedule really works out. The biggest area that is lacking right now would have to be the legs. It’s hard to do good squats when you’re just using resistance bands… But the good thing is that you really can still get a pretty good workout at home without much special equipment!

So the other day I finally used up the last of my birthday money and bought a pair of Perfect Pushups. I’ve seen the short ads on TV and thought that they looked to be pretty cool, but I’m not one to believe the hype. So I did some looking around, checked reviews and such, and for the most part people were giving it good, realistic reviews. So I figured, “What the hey, it’s birthday money that I’ve had for 3 months, let’s give it a try!”
This morning I did my first official workout with them and I was impressed by how it really does work your muscles differently than regular pushups. I’ve been doing pushups for the last couple of months as a way to keep getting in some exercise, but these pushups are so much better!
Maybe I’ll give a further update later, but for now I give the Perfect Pushup an A+!

I wrote a post awhile back saying that I was going to try to stay off candy for about 3 months or so. Well, I failed miserably in that regard mainly due to my wife having a baby and having some candy each day was one of the few things that I could use to keep me going some of those days.
So I’ve renewed that goal with more vigor this time. And it’s amazing to me how often I can be tempted to just nibble on a little bit of candy! In fact the day after I reset the goal my boss offered me a handful of Easter candy, and I had to turn him down. But I’ll admit that I certainly thought about it for a minute!
You know what’s great about doing something like this? People thing you’re crazy! I’ve gotten several really funny looks when someone has offered me candy and I’ve said no. It’s great.
Next I’ll work on cutting out other things that aren’t optimal for my health. I’ve been eating ice cream off and on lately, so that will be one of the next to go. Along with popcorn. I’m a huge popcorn junkie, but the other day I actually read the nutrition facts and that really motivated me not to eat popcorn anymore!
I don’t plan on never eating candy again, just so you know. I’m being a little drastic for the next couple of months just so that it’s no longer a bad habit, then I’ll allow it in small amounts when the situation seems appropriate. But, I have some lifestyle changes I’d like to make and this is one that I’m starting with!

Ok, so we really got this jogging stroller about a week ago, but I’m just now getting around to writing about it. We had been looking at getting one for some time, but needless to say with my wife having the baby and then gallbladder surgery it really wasn’t at the top of our priority list!
In fact, before she even got pregnant we had started jogging rather consistently and were even planning on doing a half marathon. Who knows, maybe we’ll pick up that idea again. I know I’d like to, but we’ll just have to see.
Honestly, I’ve never been much of a runner. I played soccer until I was 14 (then I almost tore my ACL and stopped after that season), and since that time I really didn’t enjoy jogging or running. But then when we started doing it last year I started to enjoy it again. I don’t know that I’d ever be a marathon type guy, but its nice to get out for a jog.
But to be honest, I enjoy thinks like rollerblading and biking even better! In fact, that’s probably the next thing my wife and I are going to go for. So there’s a random update for today!

I used to go to the gym a couple of times a week and really enjoyed it. But since having a new baby and my wife getting her gallbladder out I haven’t really had a lot of time to get the exercise that I’d like to.
But I’m not giving up my goal of building a better body!
So, I’ve decided to take on a new challenge. I’m back on my no candy goal (I wrote about that previously, but didn’t make the 3 months
) and I’m going to start doing at least some sort of exercise every day. Yesterday I did 60 pushups during the day, today I’m going to do 60 situps throughout the day. I also picked up a set of elastic bands that I can use to do some exercises as well. And maybe to mix things up I’ll do some yoga here and there.
Health is very important to me, and honestly I’ve been trying to do better at exercising for a couple of years now. Well, this is the year!
By the way, if any of you buy bodybuilding supplements like creatine and whey, you should check out the site SupplementPricing.com. They do price comparisons on a lot of supplements so you get the best deal. Just a side note!
