Still Never Want to be in the Hospital

5:30 am Random Observations

So the other day my wife had to have an Endoscopy done so we could find out why she’s still having some abdominal pains. An endoscopy is where they put you under, then shove a tiny camera down your throat to take a look at your stomach and small intestines. The good news is that they found out what the problem is and my wife was so excited to find out that she has a ulcer!

I’m serious when I say she was excited. She was excited because now she finally knows what’s going on. It’s now a joke at home that I never thought anyone could be excited to have an ulcer!

So this whole ordeal again confirms that I never want to have to go to the hospital for myself. It also confirms that I don’t think I would be cut out to be a good doctor. We saw the pictures that they took, and honestly it’s not a pretty picture. Not my type of thing…

I think I would be happy with an ulcer, too, especially if I had thought it might have been something worse!

I’m not a fan of hospitals, at least not when I have to go myself. When my husband and I got into an accident last July we had to go, and it wasn’t fun at all!

I’m very sorry to hear about your wife’s ulcer…I have heard alot of stories about “hospital visits gone wrong” and now avoid the hospital as much as possible ;)!

Yea, I started off as a premed major, but after watching a few surgeries online, I changed my mind.

I don’t mind hospitals, but not my thing.

I have had to go to the hospital a couple of times and each time I swore I would do everything I could to never be back. It is really scary laying there realizing that there is a possibility that your life as you know it is over. Especially scary if you don’t know what is wrong with you!

Well that is actually good news I suppose, I know people who have come back with much worse after an endoscopy.

I’ve had 2 of them when I was a kid and they make you feel like gagging, not nice.

I used to want to be a nurse — and I changed my mind quickly. I don’t think I could handle the blood, the needles, and everything else!

No one really likes to go to the hospital. I had an endoscopy a few years ago and in the beginning i was shocked when i saw my inside on the monitor.

What was the cause of the ulcer?

Most ulcers are caused a bacterium Helicobacter pylor. Other causes include regular use of pain relievers, and stress etc.

Up until I had my kidney stone, I had never been in the hospital beyond a sleep study or visiting others. My kidney stone was my 1st REAL pain, a pain that I would never wish on anyone else. I was glad to have surgery to stop the pain. It took, roughly, 1 month from start to finish with my kidney stone.
