One of My Least Favorite Things: Yawning…
April 25, 2008 10:00 am Random Gripings
Ok, this is a little bit of a gripe. I hate yawning. Whenever I get in one of those spells where I just can’t stop yawning I get really annoyed. Does anyone else agree with me on this one? I mean it has to be one of the most annoying things in the world. You may not even feel tired or anything but your body decides that it’s time to open your most really wide and breathe funny. I’m getting annoyed just talking about it…
Does anyone really know what causes yawns? I don’t think I’ve ever heard a good explanation of it, at least one that really made sense. And what’s with them being contagious? I actually saw a Myth Busters episode about it once, and if I remember right they proved that it wasn’t actually contagious.
I better stop talking about this before I curse myself into a yawning fit…

Yawning certainly feels contagious, interesting if it really was proved otherwise.

Yawning… At one time I read a lot about the subject, however I found no explanation to it.
It is amazing something we do, animals do and still we don’t know what’s it good for. I don’t know about Myth Busters, but everytime a see or hear someone yawn, I yawn too.
Take care.

Right, I agree with you also. Yawning is contagious and annoying. I don’t know what’s the reason why people are yawning. I think it’s psychological.

Sat in the car this morning car sharing with 2 others on the way to work. One yawns followed swiftly by another then another, very funny how yawns do catch on.

That’s funny about it not being contagious because I just looked at my dog and he yawned which caused me to yawn. I do hate that!

I don’t mind yawning during the night. It is the signal that I am ready to go to sleep.
I don’t like doing it during the day though, cause it means my energy levels are low.
