National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets Review

So last night my wife and I watched National Treasure 2 - Book of Secrets for the first time. I’ve been interested in seeing this one for awhile, so here’s my take on it.
I thought that overall it was what I expected: just a fun, family friendly, history filled movie. Nothing too spectacular, and in my opinion it fit pretty well what I expected. It was fun, a little cheesy at times. I don’t think it’s a movie that I would watch over and over again, but I enjoyed it.
I also have to mention here that I think the first National Treasure movie was much better than this one. I know sometimes that happens because the with the first one you really don’t know what to expect. But it seems like in so many situations the first one of a series really is just a better movie. This isn’t always the case (for example, I think Return of the Jedi was way better than A New Hope, and it was the 3rd movie to come out!), but seems to be all too often. I’m hoping that The Dark Knight, the new Batman movie that comes out soon, won’t follow this trend, but I guess we’ll just have to see.

It just film to watch and forget about it. Just fun and visual effects - nothing more.

I like National Treasure 2 as well. It is not one I would watch over and over though. I enjoyed the first one enough to watch it a few times, but this one just doesn’t have the charm. I read somewhere that they are making a third and I will be interested in seeing that.
As far as Batman goes, I am pumped to see the new one. I have a feeling its going to be awesomely fantastic. I think Heath looks like a great joker and I am excited to see how they portray TwoFace. I hope it is original and cool.

Nic Cage should be ashamed of himself, but I’m sure he is not! His ratio seems to be about 5 crap movies like this one to every one with a bit more substance, like, say, Bringing out the dead

The movie is supposed to be and action adverture movie and that’s what it was.
I personally like Sci-Fi and my wife likes the slow talking woman movies.
But we both enjoyed National Treasures as a break from the usual.

I watched this for the first time last week as well. I never watched the first one, and didn’t really want to watch this one either. (I’ve never been a Nic Cage fan) I was quite suprised at how much I enjoyed it though. If the first one is better as you say, I may pop on over to the video store and give it a watch too.

Movies are to watch and forget, source entertainment while watching, and I think National Treasure 2 completely serves that purpose.
Cheers Hollywood !!
