My New Exercise Routine

Pushup by binkybink, FlickrSo I think I mentioned before that I’m working on getting back on a fitness routine, but I just wanted to report that it’s going great! Lately I’ve been getting and doing pushups with the Perfect Pushups 3 days a week and then also doing some resistant band exercises and situps at least 2 times a week.

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I’ll be able to start going to the gym again, but that all depends on how my schedule really works out. The biggest area that is lacking right now would have to be the legs. It’s hard to do good squats when you’re just using resistance bands… But the good thing is that you really can still get a pretty good workout at home without much special equipment!

Good for you and everybody else that has found a way to improve physical fitness and save money at the same time!
Personally, I also workout at home and I don’t have any bulky equipment. I mainly use heavy dumbbells and the beloved Power Tower. The Power Tower allows you to do pull-ups, dips, leg lifts and inclined push-ups - so it is very versatile.
Anyway, good luck to all that taking part in regular training and/or a new exercise routine.

Dan, for legs, no joke check out something called hindu squats, you will find a video somewhere on the proper form. Its a bodyweight squat done slightly different. They are hands down one of the best exercises for squats. Aim to do 50-200 every day if you can at first.

I must say that I too need to get on an exercise routine. I find the biggest obstacle is to stay motivated. With that said, summer is just around the corner and it’s time for me to get a move on.

I also work out at home, it can be sometimes difficult motivating yourself - I guess actually paying for a gym membership would motivate me more, but this way I do save quite a bit of cash after the inital outlay for equipment.

So are you still on the perfect pushup? I have one here but I have never used it, and honestly thought it was just a scam. I do understand that it uses different muscles and everything…but that doesnt mean it yields good results…what do you think?

I use it as a backup for when i can’t go to the gym. So I don’t use it all of the time, but I’m still impressed with it. I feel a much better pump with the Perfect Pushup than I do with regular pushups.

I just started working out again as well. Instead of doing pushups, I opted for walking 3 miles a day and now I am up to jogging about half of those 3.5 miles. Next I think I am going to incorporate some pullups.

Yes, home exercises are a great help in keeping you in form, but when going to the gum and watching sportsmen, I think that gives you a double intention to have a muscle body.

The most important thing with a workout routine is to keep at it in order to get the best results. You’ve got to stay motivated.

Try doing some plyometrics. They don’t require any equipment, and they’ll give your legs a great workout.

Someone above mentioned plyometrics… “Plyometrics (also known as “plyos”) is a type of exercise training designed to produce fast, powerful movements, and improve the functions of the nervous system, generally for the purpose of improving performance in sports. Plyometric exercises may also be referred to as explosive exercises. Plyometric movements, in which a muscle is loaded and then contracted in rapid sequence, use the strength, elasticity and innervation of muscle and surrounding tissues to jump higher, run faster, throw farther, or hit harder, depending on the desired training goal. Plyometrics is used to increase the speed or force of muscular contractions, providing explosiveness for a variety of sport-specific activities.”
