Movie Review: Seven Pounds

8:37 am Movies, TV and Music

I guess you have to be careful seeing a movie when you’ve really never heard much about it. I thought that I had heard someone tell me that it was a good movie, but now I’m wondering who said that cause I have to disagree!

So the basic idea behind the site is that Will Smith’s character has obviously gone through something tramatic, but they don’t say what of course until the very end.  You do get pretty obvious hints here and there though.  So he has been doing all sorts of nice things for people, but you can also tell that he hates himself and is suicidal.

I guess what bothers me most was the whole premise…it’s just kinda weird.  So he causes a tragedy, and to make up for it kills himself to donate organs?  Yeah, not really the uplifting movie I might have been hoping for!

So unless you want to be depressed, I don’t recommend this one.

I didn’t quite like this movie, although the main actor is Will Smith! The whole movie seen so depressive and repressive to me. It’s probably the worse movie that I’ve ever saw.

Rating: 4/10 (Sorry, Will Smith but I just don’t like the story at all!)

You should have asked me about it before you saw it. I thought it was incredibly well done, acting, the directing, the scoring, the editing was all top notch, as I have come to expect with any Will Smith movie. I think it’s just the storyline that sucked on this one. I agree though, not the cool uplifting film I was hoping for.

Hate depressing movies like this. I will take your recommendation and NOT see this movie. I doubt it’s more depressing than The New World (2005) though.

Seven Pounds is the most predictable, obvious, watching-paint-dry movie that has ever made me cry. My issue is not with sentiment, it’s with the fact that EVERYTHING is revealed in the first 30-45 minutes or so (if you choose to pay attention). The story is dependent on the structure because the linear version would be vile. I cried and I don’t regret it, but it’s two hours of emotional manipulation.

I heard he kills himself at the end by getting in a bathtub with electric eels. I think that’s really all you need to know to tell you this is a good movie to AVOID. Also, I just spoiled it for you so now you don’t need to see it.

I dont know why some of you think this is a depressing movie, i loved it, its kinda slow, but a really nice story and meaning. Not a everyday movie to watch, but i enjoyed it. Will smith always puts on a good show.

I loved this movie so much, I watched it 3 times, but I think He made a mistake, after a few years his life would go back to normal, and it’s crazy the jelly fish is do deadly.

For this reason, I NEVER take movie recommendations from others. I watch the trailer, and if I think it looks good, I’ll go see it. I have never seen a good film which was a recommendation from someone else. Ever.

This movie was an award breaking phenomena. To a number of people they might not understand its true meaning cause you probably have to be really cracked out to understand the true essence on which the movie has been built upon. While watching movie it is treated as an entertainment but on our part we should make some contribution of looking at it further from just an entertainment. Look into the mind of the director and producer who were filming the movie… Peak into the writers’ mind to understand the turmoils he was passing through… There is more to movies than to just sit down with a large bowl of popcorn and a Coke and munch away. A times if looked closely these ingenious people are almost telling their own life stories. Similarly with seven pounds to some it might be categorized as a disturbing notion of the crew team. But in reality this can be related to any one us. If we have a traumatic event happen to us how would be regenerate and recognize that the life living now is a joke on us?

Is anyone else sick of Will Smith? I use to like him, but he got straight over-exposed. That said, this movies was surprisingly good.
