Mother’s Day Coming Up…

6:46 am Random Thoughts

So Mother’s Day is this coming Sunday, and I still have no idea what I’m going to get my wife, my mom, or my mother-in-law! I’m really bad at coming up with ideas for this sort of thing, and I’m always afraid that I’m going to just do something lame.

In fact, I remember one year as a kid when I totally forgot to get my Mom something. So the moment arrived and I reached in my pocket and gave her a string. It has been a running joke in my family for years that I gave my Mom a string rather than a real gift…

So this year I need to come up with some better ideas. It looks like 1800Flowers.com has some really good ideas, and I know that my wife and Mom like flowers, so maybe I’ll just do one of their gifts. If you’re in the same bind as me, check them out. You might get some good ideas!

Has anyone else noticed that Mother’s Day is always a much bigger deal that Father’s Day?

The thing I have always learned is make sure you have a card. At the very least, you have a card that says something sweet, and anyone that has ever shopped for a card knows that it takes far longer than it should because you need to find the right one.

Flowers are nice, especially if they like flowers, but it never hurts to make a simple gift basket. The flower section of your neighborhood supermarket or a thrift store should have one for less than $5. Then, pick a nice sweet that they like, maybe something they’ve been asking for while being subtle, something that defines that its mothers day, like a framed picture (bring in your kid for this one).

And yes, Mother’s day has far more significance and hype to it, because fathers day has become synonymous with “Dad goes golfing,” even if you don’t golf.

I always thought that it was weird Mother’s Day was a bigger deal than Father’s Day…

of course, most dads I know would rather have a quiet night watching the game, and most mothers would prefer a bigger ordeal :)

Nice idea, Flower looks colourful and softness similar to mother. I also contribute in this “Happy mothers day”.
