Maybe I’ll Actually Send Photo Cards This Year

I know it’s a little early to be thinking about this, but I came across a site today that does photo cards. My wife and I have never sent one of these out for any reason. I know that they are a very popular thing to do around Christmas, in fact we get several every year from people we know. But we’ve never done one!
The cool thing about these cards is how customizable they are. You can change what the outside of the card says, what the inside says, and use your own image. It’s a great way to send out some Christmas greetings, wedding invitations, and a number of other things, too.
By the way, the site I’m talking about is CardsDirect.com. They have a great selection of designs and styles, and if you don’t like the regular photo card idea you can also just get ones that allow you to slip your photo into a frame card. Personally though, I’d rather go with the full on photo card. I think they look a lot better!
I think the key is to have a cool picture. Too many of the cards I get from other people just have the family smiling at the camera. What if instead it was a picture of the family skiing, or bungee jumping, or something else original. I think that if I was to do a card like this it would have to reflect my family’s unique personality.

Those cards are cool. We did one of our whole family (mom, dad, and 3 year old boy/girl twins) with a nice black and white photo we took at the park. We thought it was nice, but we were very surprised by how many of our friends raved about it and said it was the best card they received that year! I guess we’re all a lot better looking than we thought.
If anyone making a card is interested, I have a site which lists “Baby Card Sayings” that people can insert into cards to welcome new babies. http://newbabysavingsguide.com/
Thanks,

I personally really like photo cards. It allows other people to see how my kids have grown up, etc. Sometimes they can be a bit cheesy though.

You know what, when I posted my photo card to someone, they are very happy.

I too don’t like the photo cards which we usually get “family smiling at the camera”
There must be something original..
I like your idea regarding photo cards that reflect family’s unique personality. Very Nice

Photo cards are great. Most cards in general, go in the trash bin. But when cards have a photo, they are usually kept and put on the refrigerator for 10 or more years.

Those photo cards look really cute! Looks like something that came out of a scrapbook
But I agree, the photo is what really makes the difference between a nice card and a plain one.

I find these cards defiantly have a lot more meaning then the general run of the mill Christmas cards that u usually get doubles of from different people

I think photo cards are so much nicer than simple store-bought cards. It gives a much more personalized feel to the cards - good choice

Professional card websites are great for making, well, professional grade cards. I’ve never used one myself, probably never will, but if I ever need to, I know I have the option.

Its really cool that you have photo cards over there. In Asia we seldom see people sending photo cards.

I feel like doing the same thing as well, though it is not necessary but the fun is great..

This is a pretty cool idea for those “uncreative” or inartistic people.
