Listening to More ‘Classical’ Music Today

Ok, not really. I’ve really never been able to get into classical music. Which is sad because my Dad is a HUGE classical music fan. He has tons of CD’s, all classical. Me, I could never get into it.
In fact, it was funny cause one year I thought I’d try to ‘bridge the gap’ between us and bought him an Apocalyptica album. If you’ve never heard of them they’re a group of cello’s that play Metallica music. Pretty cool stuff, but unfortunately he didn’t like it. Oh well! It was worth a shot at least!
So back to my own ‘classical’ music. My type of classical music is movie soundtracks. I’m finding that I tend to work better when I listen to music without words, so I’m exploring the music that I already have. Right now I’m listening to a little “Two Towers” music from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Great stuff!
i also really like the Braveheart soundtrack. Anybody know of some other really good ones?

apocalyptica is interesting. I have only listened to their Metallica covers, but I guess they do their own music as well.

Gladiator
Last of the Mohicans
First Knight
the rest of LotR is good but Two Towers is the best of the 3

I’ve heard some of Last of the Mohicans and there is some sweet music on that one. Never really paid attention to the Gladiator one, but I’ll have to give it a shot sometime. Thanks!

Any particular composer?

I’ve found the same thing works well for me too. Classical music keeps your right brain involved without distracting your left brain from doing the cognitive thinking. Not having words is part of that. For me it has to be the right kind of classical though, because some types put me right to sleep.
