It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Ok, I couldn’t help it. It’s just such a nice day outside that I had to start this post out that way.
I’ve decided lately that I need to get out and enjoy nature more. I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to do it, I just know that I need to. In fact, last week I needed to go to the bank during work. The nice thing is that a branch of my bank is just down the street. So normally I’m in such a hurry that I’ll drive down there anyway, but last week I decided to walk. I’m glad I did!
So here are some other things I’m going to do this year to get outside more:
- If I have a long break, try to step outside and take even a 5 minute walk (unless of course it’s 100 degrees outside…).
- Go on more walks with my wife and kids.
- Go on a good hike this summer.
- Get rollerblades and go rollerblading with my wife.
Any other ideas?

the weather has been getting really nice over here in New York as well. one of the things i absolutely love to do when its warm and sunny is sit in a park, preferably by the water, and eat lunch or chat with friends

I love walking at the weekends, it’s the only thing that keeps me sane after spending my week in front of the computer. The fact that it’s healthy is just a bonus for me.

We’ve just moved down to the South Coast (UK) and I can’t wait for the weather to get warm so we can spend our weekends strolling along the beach

Go on a nice camping trip with the family

Well you could consider getting a dog. Believe me they’ll make sure you get outside
Dogs are great for reminding you (or bugging you) to get some fresh air and exercise. Unfortunately they usually want to get out to much.
Just my tip for your readers.

This was a feel good post. Thanks for not getting too preachy. That is the problem with most of the bloggers nowadays.

Did you take the picture on the blog post? It’s gorgeous. We have personally started spending more time outdoors, as a couple and as a family and plan to travel with that in mind. being New Yorkers and in love with the Adirondacks we found incredible Lake Placid Lodging, at, well, the Lake Placid Lodge. For our first foray into nature this year, we’re almost convinced to stay right here in New York for our exploring. So, this is turning into less of a sharing comment and more of an I Love New York banner waving, so to stay on topic: My recommendation is go for it — explore the outdoors and let’s all shake off the tremors of life going at blinding speed - shall we?

Having a very hectic schedule, I nearly forget how to have time eating outdoors. You’re lucky to have extra time inserted on your schedule to relax and have fun with your wife. :)Keep it up!
