I’d Rather Have a Target….

6:52 am Random Gripings

Target Department Store by Tortuga One, FlickrI’m not a fan of Wal-Mart. I understand that they have a place in the world, and I’m not one of these irrational people that hates Wal-Mart because they are big business or something like that. In fact, as a business model you have to somewhat admire them because they’ve done so well!

I don’t like Wal-Mart because I don’t like the way I feel when I shop there. I feel like a sheep. I feel like a zombie. I don’t feel like myself when I go to a Wal-Mart. I can’t really explain it, but for some reason every time I walk into a Wal-Mart I get depressed. Ok, not really, but at least a little bit.

Maybe it’s because the store is never entirely clean. Maybe because people honestly have no understanding of how to pay attention to what they’re doing when I’m in Wal-Mart (I always seem to almost get run over by someone either in the parking lot or in the store).

That’s why I’d rather go to Target. Similar concept when it comes to the store idea, but they seem to have a higher level of self respect. The store always seems to be cleaner, and for some reason the people seem to be nicer.

I’m writing about this because they’re putting a Wal-Mart near my house. As soon as I heard this I was a little annoyed. Mainly because I’d so much rather have a Target nearby. Good thing there is one about 10 minutes away :-) .

The same goes for working there. I worked at Target for about a year, and it was so much nicer than Wal-Mart. Not that I ever even considered working there, but the fact I never even considered them for my employment, makes it obvious that Target is just so much better of a store than Wal-Mart is.

    I like your ramblings.

Your target store looks better than the ones in Australia!

There is no doubt that WalMart is a horrific place to shop. Last time I was in their parking lot, some idiot screamed “F*** Y**” to me for trying to find a parking spot. Then when I did find one, I got out of my car and almost stepped on a dirty diaper laying on the ground. I hate WalMart.

I think the red decor in Target has some sort of beneficial Feng Shui qualities. That’s probably a bit of a stretch though. All I can tell you is that there is a brand new Wal-Mart Super Center one mile away from my house and they want to build an additional one about a mile away in the other direction.

Two Wal-Marts? I need to move.

This is gonna sound lame but… I don’t think I’ve ever been to Target in my life! But yeah I understand how the feel of Wal-Mart sometimes leaves something to be desired. I really can’t picture myself working there.

Man you don’t even know how long I’ve waited for this since disabling my own Movable Type widget (that doesn’t work since Haloscan bypasses that code).

Walmart is cheaper than Target. If you want the nicer stores, you pay for it. Target does seem to have more employees whereas Walmart you are generally on your own. But they did have $2.99 videos during Christmas that was selling for $10.00 elsewhere. The food in Walmart is better. (You get McDonalds. In Target, you get popcorn and hotdogs.) But I see your point.

I know what you mean about Wal-mart. And Target has such trendy, cute crap that I would rather buy!

I agree target is very more organized than wal-mart. They keep up with the cleanness of the store. They have way better products than wal-mart to.

I have found that certain things such as hair gel is is about 6 cents cheaper at Walmart than at Target. Given that Target is closer to me than Walmart, I’ll stick to Target and pocket the gas money.

i do find wal-mart is not up to the standard. Target on the other hand has a really clean and nice look. Its so comfortable and an ease of mind to shops there. Im glad my house is near Target.

Wow I couldn’t agree more. Targets tend to be slightly more expensive.. but Walmarts are dirty and rather trashy.

I think WalMart has a funky smell most of the time also. Like BO and hillbilly cooking mixed.
My son hates going there because people always ram their carts into him.
We laugh about it, but it really is kinda sad.

Just in case you don’t already know– Target has high-end designers creating the home furnishings. That’s why interior designers shop at Target!

I love Target, extremely comfortable shopping nice atmosphere that allows me to take my time. In WalMart I just try to get out of there as soon as I can.

while we dont have wal-mart in Australia (we do have target) i understand the feeling you rambled about. I personally get them when i walk into a “surf” shop full of teenagers that are buying shirts with a big logo on the front of them because they are what is “cool” and what all the other sheep wear.

I totally agree with your post! Whenever i shop at wal mart i really just wanna get out of the shop right away. I haven´t a Target around here, but whenever i walk into a wal mart its clean. Maybe the workers here are doing a better job.

Wal-Mart just seems so depressing to me. I love Target. The lighting is better, and everything is displayed so much better.

Yeah. I agree on that with you. Target is so much better than Wal-Mart in terms of cleanliness.
