I Need a New Cell Phone
January 5, 2009 7:30 am Just Random!
My cell phone is having major problems. It’s really random, but it just shuts off whenever it feels like it. As you can imagine this makes it hard to receive calls sometimes because I won’t even know it’s shut off and may have missed a few calls. Not cool. Case in point, I just pulled it out of my pocket and it decided to turn off again! Grrrrr….
So it’s time for a new phone. My wife and I have been looking at a couple of different options, comparing plans etc. I’m not overly satisfied with the free TMobile phones that I’ve gotten from them, in fact that’s what I have right now and it’s having problems. Other than that though, TMobile has been pretty good to work with as a cell phone company.
But I’m thinking that we’re going to switch providers in a few months once our contract expires. We’ve been looking at a few AT&T cell phones and they look pretty good. There are also some really good
Sprint phones as well.
Honestly, it’s getting hard to choose. I’m cheap and so I’m really looking for the free phones and how good they are. There are some pretty good looking free Verizon phones as well, but I think their service is out of my price range.
Honestly, in the end I think we’re going to go with AT&T after checking out the free free ATT cell phones on sites like BestInCellPhones.com. Seriously, great site if you’re looking to find the best cell phone deals. They carry all the main brands and providers and can help you find what you’re looking for.
So I’m curious - what provider do you use or wish you used? I’m open to advice on this subject!

Still with T-mobile after six years and still loving them! As far as phones go, I’ve always really liked Samsungs.

I’ve been using AT&T/cingular for a while and it has worked well for me. I used a Nokia phone but I have recently wanted to switch to iphone
BTW, I know a site billshrink.com that claims to compare cellphone plan for you. You might want to take a look.
disclaimer: no association with billshrink.

I have an LG Prada. Very stylish, but I can´t really say I recommend it
[Reply]
dude, if you are on AT&T you gotta get the iphone. I have it for about a year now and plan on upgrading to the 3g version soon. It works great as a phone, but even better as an email device and a web browser.
get the iphone - you will not regret it.

With audience-response-systems, Audience Response Equipment you can create games to make learning more enjoyable and focus on the topics that students value learning about. audience-response-systems also makes grading tests and quizzes a quick and easy process for teachers and students both.

I concur with Gary….the iphone is hands down the best phone, but not a good choice if you’re on a budget, because you’ve got the mandatory $30 per line data package…but if that’s within your budget…do it.
[Reply]
Also, I think that you can get a used first generation iPhone (which is what I have) on ebay and get teh data package for only $20.

Everyone needs a new cell phone these days, even me - after my wife dropped it a few times. It shuts off now at least 5-6 times per day. Arrggh

I would buy an apple iphone online! I have had mine for a year and I would have literally paid $1000 for it. It’s bad though how the government doesn’t regulate cell phone companies enough, the prices should be cheaper.
[Reply]
dont you like Iphone bro?
[Reply]
Well i got sony erricson w580i for a year now , very good and stylish phone

I understood your problem it is very irritating thing getting switch off. Now I am experiencing a problem in my LG phone. He is getting hang while talking. Some times he is showing new time zone detected message then he will nicely sleep.

well any provider can do actually but the main thing is the mobile phone itself. quality, long lasting, features are few things that should be look upon. I still use the old school Nokia 2100

Your ideas are quite new and interesting as well. I think now days Internet is one of the best medium to get your business sussed. These three are awesome and just try these and see the result.

Mobile phone is a necessity these days, not just a luxury. Most of us, cannot live with out our mobile phone on our side anymore. I bought a new phone for myself last Christmas. I Christmas gift for myself :). I got the SonyEricsson W902. Its pretty good. I love its feature and very sleek design.
[Reply]
I think you must buy a new one…
[Reply]
When i purchase a cellphone i just search one thing: ease of use. I think that the more gadgets a cellphone has the more is subject to break. Personally i choose nokia, the basic ones. Thery’ boring, i know, but they are sturdy.
[Reply]
I love my BlackBerry. I can check my emails from anywhere!
[Reply]
Nokia 2760 and very happy with it!
[Reply]
I got myself a SEW902, very good phone. There are a lot of nice feature and very user friendly too.
[Reply]
if you have old cellphone and if it is still working, why don’t you buy a new one? i think its money wasting…
[Reply]
I change phones usually when the last one broken. Current one is Nokia 3109, close to very basic, but still great. I am fed up with all those fancy phones with cameras and lot of stuff.
Previous one was siemens m55, good too, but broken.
[Reply]
I would prefer to use nokia or iphone, both supports gprs and works faster than other phones.
[Reply]
TMobile is a pretty good company. I was going to get the sidekick but it costs about $200
[Reply]
hehehe now i am using Sony Ericcson K618i and Siemens M55 and its an old handphone but i love them because its very simple for me to use. and i think you must to buy a new one to change your handphone
[Reply]
I am also planning to change my mobile just for changing the model
[Reply]
I switched from T-mobile to Verizon. I can say that I’m very happy with the move. Verizon has better phones and all around better service. (I live in Southern California)
[Reply]
Before you actually leave T-Mobile, you should give them a call and tell them that you are actually thinking of leaving them. Just to keep you on as a customer they will start flooding you with different offers and deals. They might even offer you a phone for FREE and even cut the price of your monthly bill. It works, give it a try.

Never buy with Windows mobile - couse your mobile phone will do @turn off of and turn on whenever he wants@
Iphone is expansive but it is very good - no reset for 3 months thats cool

Same thing happened to me, but the unwanted on an off behavior started the day after I drop a few drops of water on the keyboard, anyway it was 3 years old

I used to have an LG CU500 which had a very nice feature: Every time you dial a number, there was a 50% chance that nothing would happen.
I recently upgraded to an iPhone and I have been quite happy with it, even though I am not an Apple fanboy in the least (heck, i’m running Windows Vista
Anyway, do yourself a favor and get a new phone, you won’t regret it.

Agree! I have Nokia N70, which have been loyal to me, but the next one will be an iPhone.

i was on cellphones as a hobby and here is my advice:
dont trust much the providers that changing or modifying the original software of the phone in deep (however, adding menus is acceptable)
ps: dont forget to consider the SAR level of the phone you are going to buy
greets from Greece

stroller: Mine N70 is still working (bought it 3 yrs ago). Not sure if I will go for an iphone when my Nokia dies. N85 or N96 might be good candidates.
[Reply]
iPhone is a great device. I would really recommend using it. The Appstore gives you unmatched apps.
The list of iPhone competitors is also huge incase you are looking at cheaper options.
[If you love qwerty and touch wait for Palm PRE]
[Reply]
The best device would be some good Nokia. The E71 and E63 are good devices.
But why not give Android a try?
[Reply]
I just picked up one of the new 3 Mobile INQ1 phones. I think if you want to keep in touch with your FaceBook buddies there isnt a phone that does it better (yes, even the iPhone ap). Plus is about £80 on PayG which is a steal. The rest of the features on it arn’t to bad as well (free MSN, 3.2 mp camera etc).

I’ve had Verizon for the last 4+ years and it’s been great for getting a signal when my friends with AT&T or T-Mobile can’t. Granted, the phones aren’t as cool (iPhone). I got the Blackberry storm when it first came out and got rid of it 2 weeks later in exchange for the Curve. The Storm was way too slow. Anyway, happy cell phone shopping!

I need a new mobile phone too. Mine has a busted charger and its keeps saying “charger not supported” plus it takes atleast 8 hours to get it fully charged. shheeeshh
[Reply]
Well if your using your cellphone with its real purpose and it is still working, I think you don’t have to buy new one. On the other hand if you really need to buy just buy the best one.
[Reply]
You must test the cellphone before you buy.. You need to choose shock proof cellphone.LOL!

I own a second gen iPhone and I love it. I’ve had some awful phones in the past, namely the Nokia N82, but this iPhone makes up for it with it’s style and practicality.
Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with apple, or iPhone.

I just got my nokia 5800 and have to say it’s everything i need. I had a few problems with GPS - but i installed Garmin and now works perfect. (i installed garmin 4-5 times until it worked)

Wish I could get the iPhone… unfortunately not a at&t customer…
[Reply]
I have to agree with many others in the post! The iPhone is definitely the way to go. I have had both the iPhone 3g as well as the storm, and the apple far outworks the storm in every category according to my taste. The applications that are developed for the iPHone are truly amazing.

I love the iPhone! I’m a music freak and I like the interface too of an iPhone. I’m using a Sony Ericsson now, but I plan to upgrade to either a good Snoy Ericsson one or an iPhone. Mainly, because of the calling and the music purpose.

I need a new cell phone as well. I am expecting more uses, such as internet and taking video. I advise sonyericsson(I hope I write it right). Its appearance and function are both satisfactory. What’s more important is its good signal at any time. Wish helpful for you.

Hello friend, Now i am using Sony Ericcson K320i. It is a simple set and easy to use. But one demerit is its battery backup. So i want to buy a new one from nokia. Thanks a bunch for sharing such an informative and interesting post with us.

Every cell phone I get seems to always have major issues.
[Reply]
Yeah. Phones don’t last the way they used to. I used to be able to have the same phone for 4 years easy. Now I’m lucky if they last me 1 year….and I buy the expensive type of phones (like $200 or more)!

I am thinking it is about that time, too. It really has become quite a complex decision these days with all the different cell phone, plan, and provider options to consider.

I buy a new cell phone every three months. I have done this for the last 2 years

I am getting ready to get a new cell phone, too. I am in the process of looking at all the different service providers and trying to decide who has the best price, but is also reliable with good coverage.
[Reply]
iPhone! Do it.
[Reply]
iphone is the best solution in your situation
[Reply]
AT&T is good. Cellphones that are complicated has several disadvantages also. I prefer simple cell phone. As long as I can receive calls and texts then its fine. But new phones are embedded with different things..music, camera, wifi. which makes the cell phone much fun to have.

I had the same problem with my old nokia 6610i, there again it was really old lol but despite my better jusgement ( I wasnt keen on the price ) I decided to purchase an iphone and I am really pleased with it

I’d go after a smartphone that’s able to streamline communication to more ways than just another person. Android and iPhones are seemingly the way to go these days.
[Reply]
I experienced it also, it really annoying. It causes lots of problems, especially if someone called you and then your phone instantly died. And decided to buy one, I’m currently choosing over a Samsung smart phone or HTC.

Excellent post - I´m glad I´ve found this article. Keep up doing the great job.
