I Miss Having Summer Vacation…
May 6, 2008 4:25 pm Just Random!Remember back in high school and grade school, you’d go to school for most of the year but then there was that wonderful time of year called “Summer Vacation.” I know that I don’t ever want to go back to high school, but that is one thing that I miss from time to time.
Wouldn’t it be great if as adults we could have a summer vacation? Granted, now as adults we all have responsibilities and such that make this a little difficult, but wouldn’t it be cool if we could do something like that?
Maybe that could be the platform for the next presidential election. “I promise summer vacation for everyone!” the candidate would say, followed by cheers and applause….ok, maybe not. But I can always dream can’t I?

No, no summer vacation for adults
Work, work and work is what moves the civilization ahead. But nothing is impossible! If you place the summer vacation as a target you can do it, not just dreaming about it. I have a friend ho had been 20 when said “I want to stop working when I’m 40.” and did it! So, believe, work hard and you can get it

Ahh, yes… Summer vacation was my favorite part about being in school; ha-ha! You know, a lot of schools have managed to even screw that up now, as they have shortened the summer vacation and have spread out more vacation time throughout the year. I can see where many people would like that, but if I was still a kid, I’d want my long summer break.
Speaking of that, I know many people who are not only on summer break every year, but on are on break all the time simply by faking disability and draining social security and welfare benefits because they are too lazy to work and many of them have more kids that they can’t afford, to get even more rewards from the government.
…Meanwhile, the low to middle class working stiffs get to foot most of the bill. Cheers!

Dan, i could not agree with yopu more. On May first of every year I take my grandkids to the beach. This is what I did as a child, living on the shores of Lake Michigan. It was a tradition when I was growing up. Then in high school we would skip the whole day and hang at the beach. In thosese days we could build campfires and have a blast. But as things change, some traditions are no longer kept up. I am just trying to keep some fun and memories going with my grandchildren.

Universal summer vacation is not possible, obviously, because people need to work during the summer. However, as that other guy said, if you are hard-working then you personally can do it. I’m still pretty young and still have the privilege of enjoying summer vacation.

even if we did have a summer vacation as adults…it wouldnt be the same.
When you are a kid your only real responsibility is school. When summer came, you were totally free.
But as adults, even if work dissapeared, we would still have responsibilities to our life. Family, friends, crisis, danger, kids, pets etc etc etc
thats all part of being an adult

Summer vacations are always nice to have. It gives you the stress free feeling of having a relaxing and fun moments with your loved ones. Or enjoying some quiet moments alone.

I disagree with Valeri. I think that it is worth its weight now matter how much it costs. Being one up on the next guy always has a price tag, but truthfully, its invaluable. Well put, btw.
