I Made a Duct Tape Wallet!

8:41 am General

balck & white duct tape wallet by KMC designs, FlickrI really wasn’t happy with my old wallet. When I first bought it I thought it was great and compact, but then as I started using it more I realized that it was so small that I couldn’t fit a dollar bill lengthwise, so I had to fold them. This made the wallet get fat really quickly. Great little wallet, but that was the inherent flaw in it.

Well I really didn’t feel like buying a new wallet. I didn’t like the super cheap ones and I didn’t like the price of most of the leather ones that I saw. Then I heard about duct tape wallets…and I thought the idea sounded great!

Overall it was pretty easy to make. I can see how once you get used to doing these things you could really pump them out. The one I made isn’t great by any means (not as good as the picture here), but hey - I MADE IT! So now I know that the next time my wallet goes out, I can just make a new one. And you can also customize them any way you want to.

So if you’re bored and need something to do, try making a wallet. It’s pretty cool!

That’s not really my image, I got that one from Flickr. But it looks like a similar design. Although, that one is cooler than mine :-(

I had never heard of duct tape wallets before, cool idea. I’m well known for losing my wallet when I’ve had a few to many beers, I might just make a duct tape one for going out, could always knock out a couple of spare ones aswell in no time.

I knew a few people who made duct tape wallets and one that made awesome wallets out of tape and magazine articles and picture cut outs. They were really cool and I always wanted to make one, but I lack most artistic ability whatsoever.

Dump the wallet and get a money clip. You will stop carrying around a bunch of clutter and it is better for your back.

Awesome idea! I think I may just make one for my guy for Valentine’s Day. Sweet, thanks! Oh, and I have a co-worker whose daughter actually started a business making duct tape purses in all the various BRIGHT colors. She makes 20 bucks a pop and it’s great business, as far as I hear. You may want to think about making money off of your creative ideas. :) Go for it!

–Yeah, what is it with things like that, anyway? Builders and contractors have to ‘meet code,’ why shouldn’t wallet manufacturers have specific dimensions to follow so we don’t waste our money on something we can’t even put our money into-ya know? But the duct tape wallet was great! Thanks for the idea and yet one more use for duct tape.
