I Live Near a Bunch of Idiots

Ok, it’s time for a Monday morning gripe!
Right now I live in a condo complex. And it seems lately that almost once a week I am just amazed at the stupid things that I see happening at our trash dumpster.
First, let me let everyone know about a very simple rule of dumpsters: if you leave trash outside of the dumpster, like on the side or something, it is not going to magically end up in the dumpster! The garbage guy is not going to get out of his truck just to move your junk!
Seriously, I used to think that this was common knowledge, but apparently not, I even remember one time I lived in a place where they had to post this same thing on every single trash can, but people still did it!
So this morning I go to throw out my trash and guess what was by the dumpster? I’ve seen beds (currently there are 2 mattresses outside the dumpster), desks, couches, and all sorts of stuff. But this one amazed me. It was a copy machine. Not just a little 4-in-1 type machine, but a standup business like one. Where the heck did that come from?!?!
So simply put, I think I live near a bunch of idiots. That or people who are too lazy to actually put their trash in the dumpster. And yes, I have actually gone the extra mile and put some of these people’s trash in the dumpster, but maybe I should stop and see if they’ll figure it out after their mattress has been sitting there rotting for 3 weeks…but then maybe they just don’t care…
Anyway, there’s my rant for today. Have a nice week everyone!

I too have seen all sorts of items in the dumpster “area”, which eventually ended up in the middle of the driveway, like a huge couch! I guess they didn’t have the number to Goodwill. It’s unfortunate that when you live in a condo complex you have no idea who your neighbors are until you move in.

Unfortunately this type of behavior is not confined only to the United States. I was in the Bahamas last week and people were doing the same thing.
I wish people would consider others just once before being so lazy.

this is crazy!! i think it’s better by a dumpster though than in the neighbor’s yard. whatever it is that they are trying to get rid of, and i mean whatever it is, it will sit out front on their lawn for us and everyone else to stare at. I mean they haven’t taken down the xmas lights from last year so im not sure why im surprised!

I was in Naples in Italy just a few months ago and you should see the state of the garbage in that city. It is piled literally one storey high in some places - everything from plastic sacks of stale food to refrigerators and furniture. Once every few months they come with dumper trucks and scoop it up. They tell me that all the official dumps are full so they ditch it in the nature park. It wasn’t always like that but there have been serious political problems down south and no one seems to take responsibility for the situation. The freaky thing is that the people of the city have just gotten used to it and they just throw stuff out anyplace at all. It’s a complete contrast to Florence where everything is clean and beautiful. Italy is like that, between the north and south, it’s like two different worlds. Anyway, it is annoying to find stuff loaded off next to the dumpster but in Naples the dumpster itself is buried metres deep!
