I Could Never Use an Asus Eee

12:17 pm Random Observations

So this weekend I’m hanging out and learning a ton at BlogWorldExpo (which I’ll write more about later) and I’ve seen a couple of people with these really really small laptops.  I have a 14″ Dell and it works fine, but I could never imagine working off one of these 7″ screens that I’ve seen a few guys have!

Here’s what I would picture myself as if I was using a laptop like that.  Or, rather than laptop maybe it should be called a ‘hand-top’, but I digress…  So here’s what I see: all hunched over looking like Quasimodo with a bent back and neck just trying to read anything on that thing.

Maybe it’s just cause my eyes aren’t that good or something.  I don’t know, but I really couldn’t see myself using one of those.  But if you could, more power to you!  I mean really, I guess for portability they really would come in handy, but not for every day use.  Maybe someone can give me a reason why?

Well, I don’t think the idea of a Netbook is to do lots of “work” on it. It’s a missing link between smartphones and ultraportable laptops.
They are really great for doing basic web work. Just think about trying to read email or surf he web from a standard “dumb” phone. Now a smartphone will cost $200+ and probably increase your monthly rate (and probably tie you into a 2 year contract). The web/email experience will be better, but still come no where near a laptop experience.

OR you could spend $350- $550 and get a near laptop like experience (with no impact on your cell bill).

They certainly not for everyone, but if you need one, they can be pretty awesome.

it’s cheap. and it’s quite easy to bring around. and at some of the price points, it costs about as much as some handhelds. was considering getting one actually, except that other cheaper gadgets are hitting the market. :)

I have heard lots of good things about them, from others online. I am sure that this is the trend fo the future.

    Kudos to them.

Well ,for me it\’s being portable, and that\’s it, nothing more. EEE PC may rival bigger laptops, but checking the specifications, there are still limitations in these small wonders because you cannot really have it all.

Yeah, I guess they have their place for simple things. But I’ll stick with my 14″ laptop.

I tried enough, but i really cannot use this 7″ screen any more. Too small! even if that is ok, i definitely cannot use the keyboard.
