Hitting a Plateau

8:48 am Food

Think, food. by Jean-Marc Rocher, FlickrSo I’ve written a few times in the past that I’m actually doing a workout program right now to gain some weight.  So for a while I actually put on some pounds, but lately I’ve stalled.  I guess I’ve hit a plateau!

Whenever this happens it just means that it’s time to look back and see what you have or haven’t been doing.  Then reasses and make some changes.

In my case, I know that I haven’t been eating enough.  So for the next couple of weeks my goal is to make sure I eat as much as I know I should be eating and stop skipping on meals.  I’ve had some major schedule changes in the last 2 weeks that threw me off, but now it’s time to get back on track.

Every time my schedule changes, I get thrown off on my meal schedule. Unfortunately, I am trying to lose weight.

That’s the thing when you change schedule. But you’ll be able to get back to the right track in no time ;)

Eating enough really is important. You could try using some protein powders or weight gainers to supplement what you’re normally eating.

Hitting a plateau is not that uncommon in physical fitness training, and especially in weightlifting and/or body building. I’d scramble the whole routine around and do completely different exercises for a while, before you go back to your old workout routine. Sometimes, people just need to take a break, as well.
I’d favor natural foods over weigh gainers and protein shakes, though. Plus, with the money you’d be spending on supplements and shakes, you could be buying some yummy steak, instead… :D

If you are doing weight lifting, add more compound exercises to build mass and increase your calories intake per day but not any type of calorie, calories mostly from healthy foods. Eat more meals per day but not too big meals.
