Good Advice for Debt

8:48 am General

Debt is a big cause of our problems these days.  Whether it’s personal debt or national debt, we’re all being crushed by it.  I don’t know much about what I personally can do about national debt, but I do know that each of us can do better with our own personal debt.  And who knows, maybe that alone will make changes in a lot of other places.

How many of you need debt advice?  I think we all do from time to time.  Good thing that there are sites out there that can offer good advice on things like budgeting, getting a Debt Consolidation Loan, and other topics related to debt and getting out of it.

In fact, if you are in need of this kind of advice, check out InspectorGeneral.org.  You can call them and get some help getting out of whatever debt you’re in.  Sometimes debt is more than one individual person can handle, and so getting help and advice from somewhere else is definitely recommended.

They also offer some really good advice right there on the website!  So really, if you need some help getting out of debt, get in touch with InspectorGeneral.org.  We all need to do a much better job handling our debt.

Good advice for debt is “don’t buy stuff you can’t afford”. Don’t use credit cards if you don’t have to. Don’t take loans for this new pc you NEED TO HAVE RIGHT NOW - just wait till you can afford it with money you actualy have now instead of getting yourself into more and more debt.

I read the other day that Americans are the most willing people as a nation that are ready to take on debt for what they “need” - the report later went on to explain that people justified a big house or LCD as needs when they were nothing more than luxury wants and desires.

Debt is a vicious cycle. Consolidating your debts will lower your monthly payments, but they’ll take longer to pay off. It’s best to get out of debt as quickly as possible.

I know it’s hard advice, but it’s best to never ever ever use credit cards at all. Let me qualify that. It’s best to never ever carry a balance on a credit card. You should use one credit card only and pay it off every month. Use it only for necessary expenses.

An even better scenario would be to use a debit card for your living expenses.

Do without things that you don’t have the money to buy it in cash. If you want something, say furniture, save up the money for it. The furniture store will try to tempt you with “easy” payments, but don’t go for it.

Going without may not sound like very much fun, but debt sucks! I say always, always, always live under your means. I know it sounds extreme, but I would say to live on half of what you make and save the other half. I know people think it’s impossible, but it’s not. If you do it, you will thank yourself later.

Unfortunately in these economic times, there are numerous people in debt. I find myself following this path due to bringing in a nice income for many years and then losing that income, only to find myself unable to even get employment. It makes it pretty hard when half of your household income is wiped out. The bad part of it is that you are not offered any debt relief plans when you are out of work and can’t show enough income.

What is the strange thing about debts is the fact that even our children s’ children will have their share of the debt and up to the next generation. But we could begin reducing debts within ourselves. Sometimes our lavish lifestyle will cause us trouble. We use our credit cards irresponsively. we should minimize our spending on not so important things

I agree, never buy stuff you can’t afford. If you really want to buy this, save money for it. Also, think a million times before you grab that thing. Weigh facts, if its a Need or a Want. Considering this will save you from debts that will earn interests in time if you’re unable to settle your financial responsibility and if that happen, you can’t pay for it anymore, you’re dead :)
