Getting Ready for 2008!

10:52 am General, Random Thoughts

FireworksSo its that time of year again…the time when everyone starts to set their New Year’s Resolutions.  I certainly hope that everyone isn’t setting the same ones that they set last year…

Here’s my thought on New Year’s Resolutions: its a great idea, but a year is a long time to focus on one goal.  So here’s the approach that I’m thinking about taking this year.  Rather than setting a ‘goal’ for the year, I’m going to set more of a ‘theme’.  Then, I can break the year up into 2-3 month chunks and focus on the more short term goals that will help me to achieve a larger goal.

I’ve just learned that when I set a goal for the year, I tend to lose interest after a few months (can anyone else relate to this :-) ).  I still haven’t decided what the goals or themes are going to be yet, but they will probably focus around something physical, spiritual, relationship, etc.

Happy New Year!

I can’t believe that it’s going to be 2008. Seems like yesterday that I graduated high school… and that was 8 years ago.

Some years I have tried to make them, but I never seem to stick with em past a few months or so.

Sounds like a great way of setting goals, especially for new year resolutions. I think I’ll try this idea too. Let’s see how it goes!

It’s gonna be great in ‘08!

Why does it seem that the older you get they faster the years go by? Anyway, positive mental attitude and a great plan is going to make it a great year! Good luck to everyone and happy new year!

It’s amazing just how many “these are my goals for 2008″ posts there have been lately … it’s nice to read one that’s a little different.

I certainly don’t have any particular NYE goals for my own site. Just continue doing the things my readers like, and see if I can avoid the things they don’t.

One of my resolutions every year is to travel more … and i accomplish that fairly often. Unfortunately another is to see Alaska, and in 30 years now, that hasn’t happened.

Each year I make resolutions and don’t stick to them. This year I only made a few goals and actually wrote down my “action plan” to achieve them. Hopefully that will put me on the road to success.

I find its a lot easier to achieve your goal if you break it into short term goals and take it one step at a time.

I wish you all the best in 2008.

I also have trouble with keeping my resolutions. Maybe we just make it too big an issue instead of part of the regular routine. If goals are reviewed daily, they are harder to break.

My biggest resolution is to give up drinking red wine each night.. the problem is when I start drinking I start eating what ever I like. Not good ! So far so good. I haven’t had a drink of red for 3 days !

This reminds me of the Lent my Mother and I gave up Coke and Pepsi. I thought it would be so hard, as I would drink a 2 liter at least once a day. Funny enough, when there’s a variety of soda, I will pass up the both of them for a Sprite now, and if it’s just a choice between Coke or Pepsi, I generally ask for water. Good luck on your new resolutions! I replaced sodas that year with flavored waters, maybe your junk food could be placed with sweet naturals, like dried papaya?

My New Year’s resolution was the only thing I didn’t do that year so this year’s resolution will be not to set anymore resolutions. I know I’m being redundant but I do have a reason: this year I won’t decide to eat healthier, stop smoking or workout more. This way maybe I’ll do all these things.
