Funny Moments that Happen on Vacations

10:22 am Just Random!

Vacations can be really funny things.  It seems like on almost every vacation you go on there tends to be some sort of tragedy that you can look back on later and laugh about.

For example, when my wife was in high school she went with the high school choir to a competition in Las Vegas.  While they were there they decided to do some sight-seeing as well.  So while walking up and down the strip my wife (then girlfriend) somehow managed to cut her toe open when riding the escalators!  I to this day don’t know how she managed this, but she left a pretty good trail of blood all the way back to her hotel!  She would have been safer staying on the tour bus offered by various Las Vegas tours!

In high school I was in band, and I was part of a local group that got to go to Europe for about 2 weeks.  The biggest problem that I had there was that I’m too tall and kept hitting my head on different things!  I remember one day I was so proud that I had gone the whole day without hitting my head.  I was walking along the side of the bus telling someone this when ‘crack!’, I hit my head on the rear view mirror…

So needless to say, vacations can be a lot of fun when you look back at the painful and silly moments that happen.

One place my wife and I would like to go sometime is to New York City to see the sites there.  Maybe while we’re there we can check out the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at the Rockefeller Center. I hear it’s pretty cool!

Unfortunately your wife’s scar on her foot did follow the “What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas” moniker ;)

Isn’t it curious that it is easier to remember painful moments of our life than good ones. Maybe it works that way so we can try to avoid them if they are to happen again.

My funniest vacation was when we went to an isolated island to look for witches. My friend and I went to Siquijor, a Philippine island, wanting to look for a great adventure. We didn\’t know anyone there, and we\’re so scared because the place was famous for witches. Instead, we found great beach resorts there and nice virgin forest…

Its true that no matter how mortified we feel when an embarassing incident takes place we can always laugh when we look back at it.
I have had enough accidents to vouch for that.

It really sucks in the moment sometimes though. But it is good to go back and laugh later.

Those moments sometimes become the best memories from a vacation.

I recall this summer in Turkey in the lobby of the hotel we were just checking out some tourists from my country were about to check in.

And there was this small boy (about 7-8 years old) was rudely staring at me for quite a while. I said to him in our native language which I know he’d understand: “Didn’t your parents teach you that it’s not polite to stare?”.
He was so shocked that I talked to him that he replied (in our common native language): “I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you are saying” :))

Painful vocation, is it funny? Not for me thanks. During my last holiday I was sting of bee. At least one day was spoiled.

I love vacations… a chance to relax and there are always those moments you laugh outloud. Like the time my girlfriend could read the “wet paint” sign in spanish and proceeded to lean against the wall. I had tears streaming down my face!
