Freelance - Got Skills?

1:29 pm Random Observations

If you have a good set of skills, one great way to make some extra money is to do some freelance work or pick up some freelance jobs.  And the great thing is that there are plenty of websites out there that can help connect you as a freelancer to different businesses and individuals that might be looking for your services.

So how does freelancing help businesses?  Well, let’s say you’re a manager and you have a small project that you need to get done, but it isn’t long enough to really hire a new employee for.  Or maybe it’s beyond what your current team has time to handle.  Well, that’s where the freelancer comes in.  You hire someone for that job and that’s it!

So how does it help the individual freelancer?  Well, maybe you have some extra time in your schedule and would like to pick up some extra money.  You look at some jobs that are available on a site like TheFreelanceNation.com, find one you like and get hired for it.  Now you have an extra job you can do to make that extra cash!

As you can see, freelancing sites are good for both parties.  The other cool thing about sites like TheFreelanceNation.com is that they have forums and other tools to help you.  So if you’re looking for some temporary employment or other freelance opportunity, check these guys out!

Well freelancing is a good choice, but its not made for all people. It takes much time and effort.. its more a lifestyle than a job!

If you can develop the skill at not becoming stressed out then freelancing can be a GREAT way to earn extra, honest money. I have found that I feel too bogged down and my free time intruded upon with freelance deadlines. Try it out and to each their own. Best!

I have gone from being an employee to freelancing and it is the best thing ever! I set my hours, how much I get paid and everything else - they win because they can call me for something small or simple so everybody’s happy then!

Thanks for the advice on freelancing help. It is not for me, but I know some people who do it, and would be interested in the site.

I totally agree. I love the concept of freelancing, although I also love the security of a regular job =)

You might be interested in reading an article I wrote on a very similar topic, about how I hired someone to cook for me - which like you said, ended up benefiting both parties.

Freelancing definitely isn’t for everyone… I used to work in an office with two guys who were great. They moved away and I started working from home, but I’m finding it very difficult to stay focused by myself (having a stay-at-home dog and girlfriend doesn’t help) ;) Freelancing sounds like a dream job, and for most people I’m sure it is, but every day I wish I was still working in an office.

    Hey…

Freelancing quite tough process because the client may ask many requirements and to full fill those much effort needed. I think client may not ask that many requirements if he give the project to a company……..

If that’s the case then I would assume that the client is way too trusting. They should still make sure that their requirements are met whether it’s a freelancer or a company.

If you’re a gifted soul, there’s nothing better than freelancing. As a freelancer you’re as free as a bird. You can set your own targets, timetables, and on the top of it the amount of money you wish to earn.
