Everyone’s Starting a Blog
August 27, 2008 6:18 am Just Random! So in the last few weeks I’ve learned about a bunch of different friends that have blogs up and running. It seems like everyone these days is starting a blog! Well, it’s probably a good thing. I’ve actually found that it can be very therapeutic at times…
One thing I always wonder is if people know about all the different options for setting up their blog. I know that a lot of them will just do a blog hosted by the blogging company, but even better in my opinion is to host it separately so you can do more with your blog. But then I guess that depends on what you’re after.
Well, if you’re thinking of starting a new blog and want the most felxibility out of it, you really should go with hosting it somewhere else. It’s a good idea to check out some web host rating websites to see which ones are currently the best to work with. This way you can be sure to get the best deal and also know what you should be getting in the first place.

Dan, I would be careful about reading reviews on many webhost rating websites. Often they’re shills of the company trying to boost one up, or insult their competitors. Of course, there’s no way of knowing if I’m on too, so take my recommendation of asmallorange with a grain of salt.
I tried a few webhosts, and settled on them. I think the easiest way to judge is to use google - search for “I love ____” and ” _____ sucks” and read people’s actual blogs on the subject =)

For me it doesn’t matter what blog hosting company to choose from. The important thing is the content of your blog and the way it attracts visitors. It’s the nicest way to make money online.

Yes, people do blogs for different reasons, but among the reasons, one thing they have in common is to get their ideas across and to make profit.

Yeah. These days anyone can start a blog. That’s why it’s so nice to be able to create your own custom blog from scratch if you have the skills (like I do) in PHP, MySql, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and a few other scripting languages. That way you have 100% full control over the blog and everything that goes on there. The down side is if there’s trouble, it’s up to YOU to solve it, not Blogger’s or some other blogging service’s job.
