Ever Have One of Those Days…
May 29, 2008 4:57 pm Random ThoughtsIt seems like lately I’m just having a lot of days where I’m just dragging! I mean, some good things are happening and all right now, but I’m having a hard time staying motivated and positive about a lot of things.
Now normally I can trace it back to something, but I’m having a hard time doing that this time. Hopefully it’s just a short phase…cause I got plenty to do.
Actually, I think one of the big things for me right now is that I’m not getting enough sleep. I really need to set myself some sort of a curfew and then actually stick with it!
Anybody else have any ideas or had this type of problem before? Any ideas on how to get out of it?

Its funny you mention that. I have not been getting enough sleep the last two weeks. You end up feeling like you are tired all day. I was only getting 5 1/2 hours sleep, and I felt lousy. Then lately I have been getting 6 1/2 hours. A little better and I could already see the difference.
Now if we can only manage to get 8 hours of rest it would do wonders and help keep your immune system working properly to fend of all the germs etc. If you don’t get enough sleep, you are more likely to get sick.

My advice is to cut back on some of the things in your days and get into a routine so that your time is managed better. Once you get use to this routine you can start to ease up a bit.

Motivation and mood are funny things. I do hope that you are now getting as much sleep as you need. Sleep is a wonderful thing that should not be rationed -

Yes, I also think getting into a routine would be helpful. Just have to try to make sure you get 7-8 hours a night - it is important! Good luck.

I just remind myself that something is just around the corner that will make me feel more postive about things.

You’ve got to get that negativity out!

Yea, I used to have days like that too. It can be mainly attributed to the lack of sleep. If you don’t sleep well then the next time you’ll be drowsy and the day will be a drag. Just try and get the sleep you’ve been missing.

Yah, i have those kinds of days every so often….. but, maybe take a small break from all of this, and then you may be refreshed after a few days and motivated again.

Wow, I am in your exact situation. Things are going pretty good but I still feel bad. However, I think I know why. It’s the current state of the world; rising gas and food prices, a declining economy. Hope and faith in the future are down. I think once Obama is in office and we really start seeing some change, things will be get better.

I went through this negative state of mind very often. Almost once every alternate week. Recently I took up yoga and it really seems to work. Try balasana. It’s a very simple technique and gives you a lot of relaxation. Balasana mixed with a bit of meditation works great. Please check with me if you need more info on balasana. I would be happy to help.

I know I am not getting enough sleep. I have been on the phone until 1 AM for several nights now and then getting up at 5. So I am living on Red Bull by day. Maybe I can just get it in IV form into my arm.

Too true man, really can be difficult to keep the positivity sometimes. Good Luck!

Sometimes I get down too. Then I realize, “Why am I feeling down? There are so many great things in my life to be grateful for!”
Being of service to another human being really helps me get out of my own head. I feel great after helping someone who needs it.

Lack of sleep makes a huge impact on my life. When I am well rested, I feel GREAT and have a great day! When I am tired, I tend to be very moody, negative and unmotivated. I still struggle with getting enough sleep. I need to come to a realization that rest is a priority and necessity in life.
Even with all the negativity going on in the world like the comment right above, I still find the ability to joyous and free. I definitely owe it all to spirituality.

What I like to do is find something on youtube that makes me laugh. There are so many funny vids on youtube such as Father Ted, Blackadder and Monty Python.

Right, motivation and I think have some break. Find time where you can relax, away from people and without thinking your job and everything that bothers your mind. I think that helps a lot.

Try setting yourself and then sticking to. I know that sounds obvious, but it harder done than said.

I have alot of days where I just can’t get out of bed.

I can never get enough sleep. Thats probably why I’m always struggling to get out of bed.

Some days are just a write off, but you should never resign the day to being bad before you’ve even had lunch. I definitely go to bed early on these days.

You just gotta focus on a positive goal. Look forawrd to enjoying it.

Write down all of your goals (everything you want to get done) and show it to someone you know and respect. Tell them you’ll accomplish this by x day/time.
This usually motivates me a slot as I like to keep the respect mutual.
Additionally, do establish a sleep routine. Pick a specific time you want to wake up each morning and go to sleep when you feel tired.

I agree, what works for me is to write out a schedule for the day and follow it. Go to bed at the same time every night so that you body adjust to it. Figure out how many hours you need to sleep every night. For me I need 6 hours of sleep every night. If I go past 6 hours I have a sore back and if I sleep 6 hours I am good to go.
