Bought Some Glutamine!

8:16 am Just Random!

I know I’ve written from time to time on this blog about my health goals, fitness, and all that kind of stuff.  Well, last week I bought some glutamine.  For those of you not familiar with Glutamine here’s the kind of thing it can help you with:

  • Supplementing with glutamine can help give your immune system a boost
  • Glutamine can help increase growth hormone levels
  • Glutamine is used to help maintain cell volume and hydration
  • It also helps with digestive health.

Digestive health is actually one of the main reasons why we bought it.  I read on a site somewhere that it can help cure ulcers.  My wife had one of those last year that really messed her up, so we’re hoping that using glutamine mgiht help that whole mess heal a little bit.

Anyway, there’s a random personal update for you.  By the way, if you want to find the best prices on supplements like glutamine, check out SupplementPricing.com.  They compare prices for a supplement from multiple stores so you save money!

Glutamine supplements can be very useful. I’ve been taking them for over a year and i’ve yet to regret it/think I’ve wasted money. Effects are tremendous especially considering the price.

I might give glutamine a try. I’ve suffered from IBS and various fatigue syndromes from time to time. I do think the digestive system has a big influence on our general energy levels.

Well.. Glutamine is good. But anything when overdone is bad for health.. A lot of glutamine daily can increase the nitrogen load on the kidneys and can lead to compromised renal function in the long run.. I, as a doctor, would never recommend it as a supplement to a completely healthy human..

staying healthy is a good thing. we all need to be concious of what we put into our bodies. new medicines and ideas need to be tried. who knows, it might even cure cancer.

I don’t know, I’ll be careful about any pharm, that isn’t composed of natural components. Nowadays we all drug junkies, and it’s getting worse.

I think most people wonder about the potential side effects of a drug before they take it.

Glutamine may help to maintain healthy muscle tissue in people who are susceptible to a loss of muscle mass.

I agree with the above comments about anything over done is not healthy. Even drinking too much water can kill you by diluting your electrolytes. Also, depending too much on one method for boosting day your body’s immune system will lose efficacy over time. This is due to the many self regulating systems in the body that will balance themselves and eventually not react to additional quantities, If you’re using glutamine to boost your immune system rotate in some other boosters such as mushroom supplements to keep your system from becoming dependent on one catalyst since very few of the body’s system will stay cranked “ON” for long periods of time.

Well put. In fact, since glutamine is an Amino Acid, the body is very good at detecting high serum levels and will quickly degrade what is not usable. Save money and dose properly.

I would imagine dosing is vital to any kind of supplements. I know some vitamins and minerals aren’t water soluble and you have to be really careful because your body stores them and it can make you sick.

One of the biggest benefits to supplementing with glutamine is that it can help reduce muscle deterioration after working out.

I was diagnosed with IBS a few years ago. The interesting thing is that there are so many symptoms associated with IBS that often doctors can’t prescribe a long term cure.

Over the years I was given loads of things to try. Some worked for a little while but after a few weeks the symptoms would return. I did try Glutamine but it didn’t really work on my IBS.

The best thing I’ve found to mange my IBS is food combining. It doesn’t cure the IBS but means that if I eat certain foods together the symptoms don’t show up.
