Bluetooth Headsets are Officially the New “Status Symbol”

Sony Ericsson HBH-PV710 Bluetooth Headset for $69 - Sale price by khanharis28, FlickrJust yesterday I was walking out of a building and I saw 2 guys about my age walking out of another door.  But one of them had a rather large bluetooth headset on his ear.  They were talking back and forth and it just got me thinking, “Why does he still have his headset on?  He’s talking to his friend, why doesn’t he take it out?”

Has anyone else noticed that this is becoming more and more common?  People are just walking around with their headsets on their ears whether they’re using them or not.  It seriously has become the new status symbol!

Look at me, I have a Bluetooth and you don’t!

I just don’t get it.  Now, I can see using a bluetooth when you’re driving your car or doing something where you need to talk on the phone but need both hands free.  For those situations I get it.  But do you really get that many phone calls that you need to have this thing attached to your ear 24/7?  Next thing you know we’ve going to hear about ‘bluetooth surgery’ were people are having these things implanted into their heads.  Maybe that will be the next status symbol….

For those of you that have bluetooths, please be polite to your friends and take it off when you’re talking to them!  Also, it drives me NUTS when people are walking around talking loudly on them in the store…

Bluetooth surgery, funny.your’e right ,I’ve also seen a lot of people wearing their headset when they aren’t even using it.maybe your’e right ,it’s becoming the next status symbol. Also it depends on which headet your’e wearing. If your’e wearing a Jawbone then people will think you have a deep pocket but on the other hand if your’e wearing some old headset that still uses a cord then your’e just a wanna be.That’s just my opinion.nice of you to bring up this article.

Honestly, I have never seen ANYBODY who doesn’t look like a complete dork with a bluetooth headset on.

They all look like Lt. Uhura from star trek.

Besides using bluetooth headset to receive calls, most of the time I use it to listen mp3 songs in stereo.

    This is a great article.

I came across this while searching for phones with Bluetooth headsets.

This reminds me of an article I read about Bluetooth etiquette. It’s a good read for those who use Bluetooth headsets.

That’s a good photo of the SE HBH-PV710. I can’t wait to use one with the upcoming EXPERIA X1.

I did the same thing when a bought my first bluetooth headset few years ago. Then I realised that I’m just looking like an idiot with it on for no reason. I think most people go through that phase and then end up taking it off.

Bluetooth surgery! Yes. Its almost happening now. We can see about 80% of people wearing them when they are in travel. Its too dangerous.

I suggest not to pickup any calls when you are in travel.

“It’s great to see them get to 1.0 and will mean more choices for users,” said Mozilla chief executive John Lilly, in an e-mailed statement. Lilly also took the opportunity to plug his company’s own browser. “Firefox 3 use has grown quickly over the last few months and we’re excited to release 3.1 early next year … competition is clearly creating better browsers than ever.”

I just purchased the Motorola H12 Headset…Let me offer my REVIEW…. And i must say, i’ve never anticipated a headset as much as this one, but it FAILS to deliver 100%. Maybe it’s only to be used with motorola phones ( which would make no sense ) but im currently using the At&t tilt and i must say, everyone can hear me PERFECTLY. One of my co workers and i did a test, i was in my car, ful windows down, music playing, and he heard me GREAT. So at least crystal talk works great, problem is, the listening volume is GARBAGE. I’ve seen $40 listening headsets with better sound quality then these POS’s. I am happy to sy im am returning them tomorrow, especially at the $119.99 price point i payed for them. I thought this could replace my Jawbone but so far out of all the bluetooth’s i have the jawbone is still the BEST. So you heard it right, IMO, Motorola FAILED with this headset. The headset it was based off of previously ( the H681 ) was great, i thought with the added crystal-talk it was the best bang.

Best bang alright, bangin it on the desk right back at the At&t store with my receipt in hand.

There is one on this in the how to section. The speaker you refer to is the symbol for unreachable. The person is either on the phone or has bad or no service at the time. Unavailable means just what it says, the person doesn’t want to talk or be bothered so they to unavailable

    Yes, I wholly agree!

For the past two weeks I’ve seen two managers in our company get out of their cars in the morning with their “remote control pod” in place - makes me wonder whether they sleep with it in case the phone rings in the night! :-)

I like the bluetooth headsets, but it still confuses people when they don’t see that you’re wearing one. I prefer wireless earbuds.

I remember this old Motorola and the days when everyone was talking on their phones in their cars and there were no laws keeping them from doing so. Those were the days when I would sit at the red light and watch people run read lights, just casually driving through, they had no idea that they were going through a read light. Nowadays this happens less, but it still happens. At least its against the law now. Although every day I drive to work I see at least every four cars with someone either texting or talking on the phone. Every week I hear someone talking about the crash they saw or were in because someone was using their cell phone. We actually bailed someone out because the defendant ran in to someone while they were texting and also intoxicated. This happens to be a big deal for the officers. Intoxicated driving is a normal fine and then release, but if you hit something or someone when drunk and driving, then the fine is very large and the defendant will have to bail out of the jail or cross their fingers the judge doesn’t have any space in the jail to keep them.

Whether Bluetooth Headsets are officially the new “status symbol” (as you say) or not, I could care less. Anybody that walks around in public with shit crammed in their ears just to listen to gay ballads that sing about taking it in the arse, for example, obviously has a “happy-go-lucky-care-free-moronic-lifestyle” that I hope to avoid in the future. Lookout folks, they are out there dwelling and swelling up on welfare - among other things; ha-ha!
