Back to the Gym

Ahh…. I finally made it back to the gym yesterday and had a great workout! With the baby being born, wife going through surgury, and all that other crazy stuff I haven’t been inside a gym since January!
So now I remember what it feels like to do squats and then not feel the pain until the next day. I’ve always wondered about that, but this time I knew that I’d be sore. But it was worth it!
Honestly I really enjoy working out. Currently I’ll probably only be able to go twice a week, but I have to admit that I’ve missed it. I’ve been doing my best to still get in a workout by doing pushups or using resistance bands, but it really just isn’t the same. One thing I’ve learned though is that you can at least still keep getting exercise when you don’t have access to a gym, you just have to make it happen!

Yeah I want to get back to the gym. I kinda slacked off because of this annoying sinus infection that was lingering around. Now I slept funny on my shoulder so THAT hurts. I’m falling apart!

Ahh, love the feeling of the day after being back at the gym, feel like a proper old man. Going downstairs after a day of squats is a challenge.

Glad to hear that you made it back to the gym. I like nothing more than the pain I feel the next few days after a true workout. I need to get into the gym more often myself. I often forget how good it makes me feel.

I tried the resistance bands too but got a board with them, good to make the effort though.

I used to use free weights more than I do now, but I also found some excellent ways to build muscle without weights. However, being surrounded by all that heavy equipment, like at a gym, is somewhat motivational in its self. Hey, twice a week isn’t bad at all. Good luck with your physical fitness goals in the future… Cheers!

While changing your training variables is an integral part of the success of your training program, your workouts shouldn’t be drastically different every single time. If you are all over the place on each workout and never try to repeat and improve on specific exercises for specific set and rep schemes with specific rest intervals, then your body has no basis to improve on its current condition.

I know what you mean about squatting and not feeling it until the next day. When we moved to a new house, I went up and down stairs dozens of times. The next day I felt it.

Yeah, lactic acid set in due to mere oxygen depletion from exertion; try working out more and your body will develop additional blood vessels to carry more oxygen to your muscles, cells or whatever.
I feel the same way, when I have had marathon sex for extended periods of time with hot babes, after a transitory hiatus of sensory pleasure and utter erections; ha-ha!
—Aliens and babes, anyone?
