Are You Looking For Web Hosting?

8:57 am Random Reviews

Are you to the point where you’re just getting ready to start a website?  Maybe you’re looking to be the next big blogger on your favorite subject, or maybe you’re looking to open a new online store selling some great stuff.

Either way, one thing that can help to make or break your website idea is the web hosting you decide to use.

Here’s an example scenario that you could run into if you’re not careful: you set up your site, things are going well, but then all of a sudden it takes 5 minutes to load your page! Or worse yet, your site just doesn’t come up. You haven’t changed anything, but things beyond your control with your hosting company have happened.

Make sure you get a good host.  To do this, I recommend you check out WebHostingGeeks.com.  They have reviews and recommnedations depending on the type of site that you’re going to be setting up.  Honestly it’s a great service and can help you to avoid a lot of problems that you might run into otherwise!

You can also check out their web hosting blog to get additional tips on hosting and other internet news.

Check them out if you need some new hosting!  Save yourself the headache by getting the host that’s right for you.

Another good tip is once you find a hosting company, do a Google search for coupon codes for that company. It’ll save you a little money :-)

I hosted my website with siteground for a few years, but they became really greedy the last year, they put up limits on every little thing, bandwith, bandwith per hour, per day, executions per hour, i mean everything, and the prices seem to go up alot. They were alright, never had a issue, but even to restore something, backup, they charged a arm and a leg.

Next came hosting24, they were good but i couldnt email anything from there cuz their IP’s were black listed.

Than came Ipower, they are really slow, they use Vdeck instead of a normal Cpanel, takes forever to transfer files via FTP, if the file is a few MB big, it will loose connection a few times, the support is available 24/7, but the people never seem to know anything, some noobs i guess.

Than, my new hosting that i signed up a month ago, Justhost. you can host unlimited domains, they are faster than any other server that ive seen, ftp speeds are incredible. I can even view stats for all my domains. I dont know why, but im really satidfied with justhost. if you go with them, you wont regret it.

    Take care.

There are some great shared hosting companies out there, but, too often, you end up wandering around a bit before you get to the right one. I honestly like HostGator as much as anyone if you want a shared host. Their servers are faster for a small site than Media Temple, though you can outgrow HostGator while that would be impossible at Media Temple.

There are some really crappy, oversold shared hosting companies out there. PowWeb comes to mind. They claim to have distributed computing similar to a cloud host, but it runs with all the power of a 1984 Chevy Chevette.

Throughout the years I’ve used various hosting companies, some a lot more expensive than others.

At the moment I’m using 3ix for some of my sites, it only costs a dollar a month (or 70p for me because I’m across the pond) and it it usually ok and quick to load, minus a few slow days but you pay for what you get and with a money to quality ratio it’s a winner!

I agree that looking for a host is a bit of a pain and that some promise the earth and deliver very little. I have a VPS based in the UK and I like how I can get hold of the people managing the server through the tech support 24/7. I have had some trouble in the past with a couple of lesser website hosting companies and as a website designer, I know how important it is to have reliable website hosting for my clients. The last company i was with was registering all my domain names in their own name and almost refused to give me them back unless i paid over £150 for the lot even although transfer is free!!

Be careful when picking a host. Even better find one which offers a 30 day trial.

I set up my website not long ago. After a lot research, I settled on my current web hosting company. Unlike some of the bigger companies which try really hard to bait you with low rates initially and up-sell you after you have signed on, this smaller company provides exactly what was promised. Sometimes it’s worth paying a little more to get better service and fewer sales pitches.

Getting the hosting right the first time is by far the most important thing in running a site. Things to look out for is; Support, Support and Support.

If there support is good this is critical, nearly as important as the uptime. See if the hosting company can provide an SLA guarantee (Service level agreement). This way you will be compensated for any mishap.

I find that going in for a re-seller account is the best way to take total control over hosting-get it managed however!

Geographical location of the servers is essentail for the country that your site is to function in too.

Hi I am passionate blogger with 25 blogs online on different languages, so I have a bit of experience with blogging, here is a few things in relation to hosting which is think is quite important.

Buy your domain and you’re hosting separately, then you just point your domain to the IP
address where you host your page. Why is this good? If you run in to frequent problems like Dan mention with page load delay on other technical issues, you can very easily move the page to another hosting company, without having to pay moving fees etc. just download your page via FTP (Which you anyway need to do from time to time as a backup), once you have it on your computer you upload to the new hosting company. After that you can point your Domain to the new IP address. 6-24 hours later your page will be online on the new server.

If you run multiple blog remember to put them on separate IP trees, in this way you get higher SEO value.
