All My Least Favorite Foods Keep Ending Up Being Dangerous!

8:30 am Random News

Tomatoes taking a bath by Rune T, FlickrI have to admit something: I really really don’t like tomatoes.  For anyone that really knows me, this comes as no surprise.  Sure, I love salsa and all that, or in other words some foods that contain tomatoes, but to eat them plain?  You won’t see me do it!  I always take them off my hamburgers, sandwiches, etc.

So when I recently heard that there was a salmonella problem with tomatoes, I figured it was just another sign that tomatoes are of the devil.  I had a similar feeling a few years ago when there was that E. Coli breakout with spinach.  But, I really don’t have it in for spinach like I do for tomatoes, in fact I actually really like cooked spinach.   I digress…

For those of you that like tomatoes - good for you.  I on the other hand will continue to hate them, and now I even have more good reason to because I really don’t want to risk getting salmonella!

    Myths & Legends Reply:

This post mentioned that tomatoes are of the devil? That sounds like mythical madness to me; ha-ha! But seriously, how can you like salsa and not like tomatoes? Who doesn’t like ketchup? That’s even better…if a person doesn’t like ketchup, then they honestly don’t like tomatoes.

That is funny. You should post a list of foods you hate and see how many of them show up being bad. Thanks for the thoughts.

Did you ever see that episode of the Simpsons where they grew tomatoes that were blended with Tobacco and called em ‘Tomacco’?

Just stare at a tomato. It kinda makes me lose my appetite. I have to admit they don’t taste that bad with a lot of salt but.. I guess it might be that I just like salt.

Anyway, no danger of contracting any disease here from tomatoes either.

I quit eating at Wendy’s and such because of weight gain but I remember it was almost impossible for them to make one without them…

I went to subway Sandwich store today and they did not have any tomatoes because of the e-coli scare.

I eat raw tomatoes but not always. Knowing that it’s harmful to eat because of salmonella present on it, I’ll stop eating.

Tomatoes can be good alone with a ton of salt!! So you are saying that you don\’t really like any thing that is good for you?

Hopefully they’ll get the salmonella thing sorted out soon enough. I’m a fan of tomatoes, but I usually take them off burgers as well! Strange.

    1. You ought to delete the obvious link-droppers here, especially if their sites are low-quality.

    2. Tomatoes are food. Eat ‘em, or don’t. Supermarket food is a long way from the fields, and it was sprayed while it was in them. Want better quality? Get organic.

I disagree with Valeri. I think that it is worth its weight now matter how much it costs. Being one up on the next guy always has a price tag, but truthfully, its invaluable. Well put, btw.
