Another Cool Idea from VistaPrint

Random Reviews 9 Random Comments

I know that I’ve done several posts in the past talking about different things that VistaPrint can offer for your business.  Well, here’s another one: Yard Signs!

You see these all the time for real estate agents, election campaigns, and lately I’m seeing a lot of them with phone numbers on them to teach me how to make money off the falling dollar.  But the thing is, they get noticed!

So maybe this is something that you could use in your business.  If so, now’s a great time to give it a try because VistaPrint is offering a special discount on their lawn signs.

If you use this code, you can get 25% off your next order of yard signs: YardSigns25. What a better time to think about using this type of advertisement?

VistaPrint is running a bunch of discounts on all sorts of their products right now including stamps, checks, car door magnets, t-shirts, and more.

The thing that I’ve always liked about VistaPrint is that you can either go with one of their designs or you can completely customize and upload one of your own.  So if you aren’t very good at design, they can help with their designs.  Or, if you’re pretty schnazzy with the computer you can do it yourself and just have them create the actual product!  Not a bad deal either way!

One More Mr. T Commercial

Who would have thought that Mr. T would be endorsing World of Warcraft?  I came across this one today as well and thought it was hilarious as well.

Did any of you ever see that show the Mr. T had for a while called ‘I Pity the Fool’ or something like that?  For all I know it’s still running (I don’t watch TV if you couldn’t tell).  Hilarious!  In the one I saw he took this mean chef and taught how to be more respectful.  Good times.

Anyway, here’s the ad:

Good Deals on Movado Watches

Random Reviews 8 Random Comments

When it comes to the high end, classy watches, I’ve always thought that Movado made some pretty nice watches.  I just think they have a really unique style!

I mean seriously, this kind of watch really shows some class.  The other thing that I really like about Movado watches is that they also have a real modern look to them.  Black face, no number on it…nice!

There really are a lot of nice watches out there.  And a great site for getting nice watches is TheWatchery.com.  They have a great selection of Movado watches, Gucci, Chanel, Citizen, and a lot of other really nice classy watches.

One thing that I really liked about this site is that they give you multiple options for searching around and finding whatever you need.  You can search by brand, price range, or gender.  This makes finding the right watch for yourself (or for a gift if that’s what you’re after) much easier to accomplish.

Right now TheWatchery.com is offering a huge discount on some of their watches.  In fact they have some on their site for up to 75% off retail!  Not bad!  They have also been a power seller on eBay since 1999, so they’ve been around for a while and know what they’re doing when it comes to watches.

Awesome New Mr. T Ads!

I heard on the news that one of these ads was banned because they thought it was offensive towards gays.  WHATEVER!!!  The ad is making fun of speed walking as a sport, which I think most people make fun of anyway!  So here are two of these ads.  Gotta love Mr. T!!!

Update on Thinking About Making Some Changes

19 Feb 2008 - Day 56: Bad Hair Day by Michael-A, FlickrSo a few days ago I wrote about how I’ve been very tempted to just shave my head.  Well, as the days have past, I’ve decided not to do that.  What I’m thinking instead is that I’m going to go with a slightly longer hair do.

Now don’t get any crazy ideas!  I know now that my sister reads this blog from time to time and she said that she’d disown me if I ever grew my hair out!

So I’m not talking about anything really long.  Like for example this “Beatles wanna-be” hair styles that a lot of the high school kids have these days.  (Sorry kids, you look retarded.)  Nor am I thinking of anything like this guy (see picture!)

No, what I’m thinking is just something a little bit longer.  You see for the last couple of years I’ve always just had a really short hair cut.  So I’m just going to try something a little longer for awhile.  We’ll see how long it lasts…in fact don’t be surprised if in 2 weeks I’ve shaved it off instead!

Benefits of Credit Cards Over Debit Cards

Just Random! 4 Random Comments

The other day I read an article from a friend of mine about the reasons to use credit cards over debit cards.  I don’t remember all the specifics of the article, but I came away saying, “You have a good point there, my friend!”

Here’s the gyst of it: rewards and refunds.  Think about it.  When you use your debit card, you just have the money come out of your bank account.  But when you use a credit card you can get ones with all sorts of rewards such as cash back or points towards certain things.

Here’s a great example: my Dad has a GM Card that gives him points towards the purchase of a GM car.  He usually buys American, so he got a great deal on a Pontiac he helped my sister buy a few years ago.  Then there’s the classic example of the air miles.

So basically, if you have the discipline, you can find a card that will give you the benefits that you need.   But the key is having discipline to not let it become unnecessary debt.

This morning I came across another site that will help you find the right card for you.  The site is AcclaimVisa.com.  On their site you can take a few minutes and easily apply for low interest credit card online.

So if you have the discpline and want some extra rewards, check these guys out and see what they can do for you!

I Bought a Joe Satriani Album and Love It!

Movies, TV and Music 1 Random Comment

So for the last couple of weeks I’ve been listening to a Pandora station that I set up that only does instrumental rock.  And I have to say that it’s actually very refreshing to not listen to words for a while.

A little history: back when I was about 16 or so, about all I listened to was instrumental jazz.  Then I got into rock music and never went back.  Well, for the last year or so I’ve been listening to instrumental rock off and on, and lately I’ve really gotten into it.  I’m especially liking stuff by Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.

So just a few days ago I had a little extra cash, so I decided to splurge and get a new album.  I went with Joe Satriani’s Crystal Planet. It’s sweet, and I’m loving it so far. My favorite tracks: Psycho Monkey, House of Bullets, and Ceremony. So if you’re at all into instrumental rock, check it out!

Grow Your Business with a Cash Advance

Random Reviews 8 Random Comments

Going back to the topic of owning an online business, or really any business for that matter, there usually comes a time when it’s a good idea to get a loan in order to grow your business.  This is usually a much better idea than just using a credit card since your rates will be a lot lower.

So let’s say you go in to get a loan, and the bank or lending institution turns you down.  Do you have any other options?  Well, one option you could look at is a business cash advance.

A business cash advance is a loan against a business’s future credit card sales. If a company accepts credit cards, there are merchant account companies that will give them money, and take a little out of each of their following credit card transaction for the next several months till it’s paid up.

Online Checks is one merchant account companie that offers these merchant cash advance programs.  With them there is no credit check, and the funds are available within 72 hours.  This is a great option for businesses that can’t get a traditional loan.

Of course make sure you don’t get an advance for more than you can realistically project paying back.  The last thing you want to do is get an advance and then really dip into your profit more than you should.

The Best Salesmen in the WORLD

Random Gripings 1 Random Comment

Boston University: Marsh Plaza and Chapel by wallyg, FlickrYou know who the best sales people in the world are?  UNIVERSITIES!!!

Think about it, they have convinced all of us that we have to have a piece of paper in order to be worth anything in this world.  Not only have they convinced us, but they’ve convinced most of the companies out there as well!

Seriously, how many times have you been turned down for a job or not even applied for a job because you didn’t have the degree or certification that they were looking for?  And even worse, you might have been more qualified for the position in the first place!!!

Now don’t get any ideas, I’m not thinking of this topic because this has happened to me recently, but I know that it happens out there.  And how many of you are in college and half of your classes make you go, “Huh?!  Why am I taking this class???”

Think about it…

Help For Your eCommerce Business

Random Reviews 6 Random Comments

If you’re running an ecommerce business that involves selling physical products from your site, whether you are doing wholesaling or dropshipping, you should know by now that you need to have a merchant account.  The crazy thing is that there are a lot of merchant accounts to choose from out there, so what do you do?

There are a lot of things to consider when comparing different merchant accounts. Look at their fees, both the per transaction fees and also the monthly fees. You could be paying way more than you need to.

In fact, even if you already have a merchant account you might want to look around and see what else you can find out there. For example, there is a company I came across recently called OnlineChecks. They offer some things that are not very common in the industry such as no fees, no contracts, and a free credit card machine. Not a bad deal!

So when it comes to credit card processing and merchant services, these guys look like a pretty good one to check out.  And as you know, you really should be doing everything you can to keep those costs down, so why spend extra on a merchant account if you don’t have to?
