P.S. I Love You Review

Movies, TV and Music 6 Random Comments

One of the other movies that we watched on Monday was P.S. I Love You starring Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Lisa Kudrow, Kathy Bates, and Harry Connick, Jr.

Definitely a chick flick.  No question about it, this was a chick flick.  But then again, I knew that just be reading the title.  But as far as chick flicks go, this one wasn’t bad.  It wasn’t all that sappy, and there were some parts that were genuinely funny.  Harry Connick, Jr. was really funny as a really blunt character who claims that he’s supposed to be on pills that will keep him from being rude.  Most of the other characters were also really good as well, but I’m not going to go over all of them.

Funny quotes:
Holly Kennedy: Oh, stop being all *bilingual*!
Gerry Kennedy: Kiss me arse!
Holly Kennedy: Kiss mine! In English!

Leprechaun: Are you Holly Kennedy?
Holly Kennedy: If I am will you sing at me?
Leprechaun: Yes.
Holly Kennedy: No, I’m not.
Leprechaun: Please don’t make this an issue. I gotta sing and deliver a letter.
Holly Kennedy: A letter? What’s the song?
Leprechaun: Ya I’m ‘gon be there.
Holly Kennedy: Oh please don’t, just give me the letter.
Leprechaun: I could get reported!
Holly Kennedy: By who? The leprechaun union?
Leprechaun: You know, I was in an off-Broadway play with Al $%@*! Pacino I don’t need this shit. Want the balloons?
Holly Kennedy: No.
Leprechaun: Fine!

Holly Kennedy: I don’t want to make any mistakes.
Gerry Kennedy: Then you’re in the wrong species, love. Be a duck.

Any way, pretty good chick flick. Go watch it for a good date night!

Be Careful During Boating Season

Just Random! 9 Random Comments

Growing up we would always go on a family vacation down to Lake Powell, Utah.  If you’ve never been there, you really should go sometime in your life.  And one thing we always knew is that our dad was very serious about boat safety to make sure that we had a good trip.

Drunk boating is a serious problem in some areas, along with other problems.  So before you go boating, make sure that you get some boating education online so that you know what you’re doing. Just because you’re on water doesn’t mean it’s safe to drive drunk.

The Bucket List Review

Movies, TV and Music 2 Random Comments

With my wife being sick on Monday we decided to have a movie day.  I had the day off anyway, so we figured it was a good way to have a relaxing day.

The first movie we watched was The Bucket List starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson.  It’s a pretty funny movie about 2 guys that are told that they have 6-12 months to live, so they decide to make a list of all the things they would like to do before they “kick the bucket.”  Some of the things on the list include skydiving, driving a Shelby Mustang, etc.

Overall I thought it was a good movie.  I have to admit that Jack Nicholson still kinda freaks me out, but it was fun to see the way that he and Morgan Freeman interacted.

I was thinking of coming up with an overall moral for the story, but there are really several.  So rather than trying to state the obvious or be extra philosophical, I’ll let you go watch the movie and figure one out for yourself!

Finding a Good Web Host

Random Reviews 9 Random Comments

For those of you that have your own blog or website, which I know is a lot of you, have you ever done any real web hosting comparisons?  Or did you just sign up with the first one you found or the first one that was recommended to you?

Hosting can be a really big issue.  If you have a bad host, you’re going to be screaming profanities for some time until you or they get it fixed.  So make you make the right choice at the beginning.

The good thing is that there are sites out there that can help you find the best web hosting. One of these is WebHostingGeeks.com where they have broken down the different into different criteria like best mail servers, forum hosting, etc.

So if you’re looking for a host, check ‘em out!

Being Sick is No Fun!

Just Random! 6 Random Comments

So we went on this trip to Bear Lake over the weekend, but unfortunately my wife got sick early on and we had to cut it short.  Basically, being sick really sucks.

I hate getting sick.  Somehow though, I tend to do pretty good about not getting sick.  Over the last couple of years there have been times that my whole family had a cold but I wouldn’t get it.  I think it’s because of vitamin C, but I could be wrong.

Does anybody else have tips for what they do to keep from getting sick?  I do good, but I’m not sure how.

More Cool Police Gear!

Just Random! 27 Random Comments

I’ve talked about this site a couple of times, but honestly they just have some really cool stuff!  This time we’re taking a look at holsters.

Now, I should probably say that I’m not much of a gun person.  I’ve never owned one, and the only one that my dad has (that I know of) was a black powder rifle.  But recently my brother-in-law bought a handgun, and its pretty sweet.

So naturally, I would assume if you have a handgun you need a holster for it right?  Well, LAPoliceGear.com has these Blackhawk holsters that look really cool.  If this is your thing head over and check out what they have to offer!

Six Year Anniversary

Random Thoughts 22 Random Comments

As of this coming Sunday, my wife and I have been married 6 years!  Have we had our bumpy spots…definitely.  But we’re still together, and that’s what matters.

One thing that I’ve learned over the last 6 years is that a marriage doesn’t always just go great.  You have to actually work on it.  When I first got married I really didn’t understand what that meant.  And to this day I’m sure that I understand it 100%, but I do know that you have to give it real attention.  Otherwise things just die.

I’m excited for the coming years.  I think we still have a lot of growing to do, but I’m excited for it.  I love my wife.  So I guess you might say that this post is somewhat dedicated to her.  Six years isn’t that long looking back, and I’m looking forward to the next 60+!

I’m Really Ready for a LONG Weekend

Random Observations 12 Random Comments

So with Friday being the 4th it’s already a short week.  Next week I’m taking Monday off so I’ll actually have 2 short weeks in a row.  I could really use this vacation, and I’m getting excited for it!  Granted, it is more of an ‘extended family vacation’, but that’s better than nothing at this point.

What I really need to plan is a weekend getaway for just my wife and me.  We haven’t done something like that for a long time, really not much since we started having kids.  Now that our oldest is about 2 1/2 and the youngest is about 5 months we’re getting closer to being able to do something like that.

Anyway, I’m ready for a long weekend.  It should be nice!

Worried About Looking Old?

Random Reviews 9 Random Comments

Ok, I admit that I have somewhat of a ‘baby face.’  I have often been accused of being much younger than I really am.  In fact, I remember when I was a 22-year-old guy working at OfficeMax being asked if I shouldn’t be in school - high school that is.  It’s a blessing and a curse I guess.

But I know that a lot of people out there (especially women it seems) ar worried about looking old.  Well, apparently there has been a new breakthrough ingredient developed by Dr. Chantal Burnison of Chantal Pharmaceuticals that has been proven to help reduce the signs of aging. In fact, I just checked out the product’s website (its called Ethocyn) and here’s a quote from it:

“Medically proven (p=.001) that Ethocyn gives you the important skin elastin fiber content of 20 year old skin.”
- Richard A. Strick, M.D. Clinical Prof. of Dermatology UCLA School of Medicine

Sounds like quite the breakthrough in this area.  So if you are one of those that worries about your skin, check this out!
