Just Random!

Ok, I’m going totally random on this one cause I couldn’t think of something to write about. Have you ever had a pair of socks that you actually liked wearing them cause they were just so comfortable? I have only had this experience once! Most of the time I feel that socks are uncomfortable, but I have this one pair of socks that are awesome.
I think they’re by Champion. They are an athletic ankle sock and they hug my feet perfectly. I only wear them when I go to the gym, but one day I was just wearing them around the house without shoes and realized how good of socks they were!
Anyway, the purpose of this blog is to be random, so there you go.
By the way, as a side note, have you ever worn those socks where they fit more like a glove, with your toes going into their own individual sections? I put a pair of those on once and it drove me crazy! Does anybody actually like the way that feels? I sure didn’t!

Ok, with summer approaching I’m getting the feeling that I need to go on vacation! So I was thinking this morning about different vacations that I’ve been on that have been a little more wild.
I still think that one of the crazier vacations I’ve been on was a band tour in high school to San Francisco. Think about it, a bunch of high school band kids crammed on a bus driving from Utah to San Francisco. It was interesting to say the least! Once we got there we found plenty of things to do in San Francisco like going to the Hard Rock Cafe, visiting Alcatraz, and playing card games with like 20+ people in on the same game. Crazy stuff…and honestly looking back I think I would much rather visited San Francisco with a different group of people!
My wife had a crazy trip to Boston once. But this was to see her friend get married. They still found plenty of things to do in Boston, but the sad thing about that trip for her was that a bunch of her CDs got stolen! Not cool, but despite all that she still wants to take me back there sometime because she liked it so much.

I might be cursing myself by saying this, but I don’t think we’re going to have another snow storm any time soon. So I want to officially declare that Spring is here!
So nows the time to put away all the winter stuff and get outside more. In fact, my wife and I took the kids to a park on Sunday and had a blast paying around outside. I think it was the first time that my two-year-old has been in a park that big. The best thing about it is he would run around making “whoosh” noises as he ran. So cute!
I’m just glad the weather is nicer. But just watch, I’ll be hoping for cooler weather in about 2 months

Ok, I have to go on a little rant right now. Normally I won’t do this, but I get so sick and tired of hearing all this stuff about how the gas prices being high is all some big conspiracy and blah blah blah.
That’s not even the thing that really bugs me right now. Today I read a blog post (I won’t bother saying where) that went off on some ‘Big Oil’ ad that was promoting getting off foreign oil and using our own resources because demand is going to be higher by 2030 and we need to be independent. I agree with those statements; we need to be using our own resources.
But instead, this ‘liberal’ (I’ll use that term lightly because I hate stereotypes, but it’s the only word that fits right now) had to go on the offensive because it was an ad by ‘Big Oil.’ And what was the line of attack? If we increase our use of oil we’re going to increase gas emissions and kill the planet by then!
You’ve got to be kidding me! The fact is that we are an oil dependent nation. And right now we are getting high prices because we’re so dependent on everyone else in the world for our energy supply! I agree that we need to find alternative ways of getting energy, but ethanol sure isn’t the answer. And it seems to me that until we can get oil under control, we’re going to have a hard time really producing other reliable resources.
So why don’t we drill our own oil? Because for some reason in this country we are paralyzed by the environmentalists and other groups that really should have no business directing policy. It’s really quite sad.
But by biggest annoyance to people like this other blogger is that they can come up with all these reasons why we shouldn’t do something, but they have no solutions of what we should do. They just complain about how whatever a ‘republican’ decides has to be evil and after money. So my question to her and anyone else with that line of thinking: you got a better idea?
One solution: nuclear energy. Nope, can’t do that, environmentalists say no.
Another solution: build more of our own refineries. Nope, can’t do that one either because of environmentalist wackos.
Drill for oil in Alaska? Nope, you’ll kill caribou. Caribou?!? You’re telling me that you would put caribou above the welfare of millions of people? I’m sure the caribou will adapt, they have for a long time!!!
Ok, this rant has gone in several different directions. But hey, that’s the nature of rants right? I just get so tired of hearing about all the things that we aren’t allowed to do for one reason or another. I’m tired of the complaints and excuses of what we can’t do but no alternative solutions to what we can do. When does it stop?
I’m hoping that someday soon in this country we get some leaders that will do what needs to be done and not be paralyzed by those people who just want to get in the way. We need solutions, not restrictions!

Every now and then I’ll notice some random thing (go figure
) that makes me think about being better or working hard to be the best I can be. This morning I had one of those experiences.
I went to the gym this morning and was getting ready to do some squats when I saw a girl in there working out with a trainer that only had one leg. And she was working just as hard as anyone else with her trainer. It just made me think, “Man, she’s only got one leg and she’s still doing the work. I’ve got no physical problems like that and yet I’ll make excuses left and right.”
That was a physical, working out type example. But sometimes I get other examples as well that might motivate me in other ways. Like when you see someone who might be challenged or handicapped in some way doing well in school or business. I don’t ever think that I’m better than any of these people, but it just makes me think about how they might have so many reasons and good excuses to just sit back and let things happen, or complain, or whatever. But they don’t.
Things like that just motivate me to want to be better. They make me want to do my best and not make excuses or complaints. I admire those people who no matter what their circumstances always push on. Thanks for being a great example!

Over the weekend my wife and I saw the movie The Ultimate Gift. I thought it was a really good show and would recommend it to anyone!
Granted, although I might recommend it to everyone I know that not everyone is going to like it. It’s one of those movies that actually makes you think about what you’re doing with your life and after watching it I felt motivated to make some changes. Good thing is I’ve been motivated to make changes already and so it mainly just confirmed what I’ve already been thinking.
I really don’t want to give away the plot or anything, but the basic idea is that this wealthy man dies and his family comes to the law firm handling his will to learn about their inheritance. They are all a bunch of rich snobs/jerks that don’t even care that he died, they just want their money. And, they are all upset with what he left them. Then the one lone, most punk looking person there is told that he will be given a special gift. So the movie goes through what he has to go through to get his ‘gift.’
Anyway, great movie, if you haven’t seen it you should!

One of the best summer vacations I ever had was my senior family trip to Hawaii. It was just my Mom, Dad, and sister but we had a great time. We spent most of our time on the island of Kauai, and if you’re going to go to Hawaii I highly recommend that island! I still have scars on my knee from that trip…that might be a story for another time…
In the future I hope to have some more great summer trips. These days I’m just doing so much that I don’t always get to have a good vacation. We’ll see what happens in the next couple of years.
One place I’d love to go to in the future is New Zealand. In fact, right now DialAFlight.com has some really good deals on flights to New Zealand. If you’re making a trip sometime soon, check them out to book your next flight/vacation!

A friend of mine wrote this post a couple months ago, but I still think it’s funny so I thought I’d bring it up here. There are a lot of email extensions these days, and my friend’s comment is that you can tell a lot about a person by the email they use. While I don’t agree with everything that he says about this, it’s really funny and has a lot of truths to it.
So what do you use? Here are the types that he mentions:
- @aol.com
- @hotmail.com
- @yahoo.com
- @earthlink.net
- @somecompanyname.com
- @someinternetprovider.com
- @gmail.com
So what is your ‘email horoscope?’ Find out here: What Does Your Email Address Say About You?

Let’s face it - credit cards have become an integrated part of our society. Just about everyone has one and just about everyone uses them. Granted, some use them more responsibly than other…
So if you need a new card, or want to make a transfer to a new card with a better rate, check out Credit Cards Club. They have a lot of cards to choose from and use a credit cards rating system to help you decide what would be best for you.
The one that interests me the most on their list is the type that gives you gas money back. I think we all could use that with prices what they are these days!

Ok, I finally tried the Zero Carb version of Rockstar, so I need to update my favorites.
After careful considerations, here are the new rankings:
- Guava
- Zero Carb
- Mango/Passion Fruit/Orange
- Regular
- Pomegranate
- Fruit Punch
I know they have these new Mocha and Coffee flavors or something like that, but honestly I have no intention of every trying those. I’m really not a coffee drinker.
Honestly I highly debated the #1 and 2 slots, and they are a little interchangeable for me at this point. But just to be sure I had a guava one today and I think it is my favorite, but the zero carb is a close second.
Anyone want to share their own favorites?
