Digital Photo Frames = Cool!

Random Reviews 7 Random Comments

I think these digital photo frames that have come out in the last year or so are really really cool. If you haven’t seen them, you should really check them out. You store some pictures on the frame, and it will display different pictures for you from time to time.

Now a days you can also get a digital photo frame branded with your company name, which makes a really cool corporate gift. So if you’re in the UK, check out Digital Frames Direct. They have a huge selection of frames to choose from and great prices too! Personally I’d love it if my employer gave me one of these frames for some kind of award or something (hint hint ;-) )

The Calendar was WRONG!!!

Random Gripings 7 Random Comments

After the Blizzard… by sonicsquirtgun, FlickrSo I mentioned about a week or so ago that according to the calendar it was the first day of Spring.  Well man was it off!  I really wasn’t expecting to wake up to snow yesterday, but nevertheless when I looked out the window there was 1-2 inches outside.  Not cool…

Now if that wasn’t bad enough….this morning was more like a blizzard!  Really cold wind, icy roads, and there was even a small pickup turned upside down in a ditch.

Whatever happened to global warming?!  LOL, not that I believe in that whole thing anyway (at least not that it’s all man-made), but I sometimes have to wonder when its still this freezing cold and it’s almost April!  But maybe this means tha we won’t have a 110 degree summer.  Shoot, at this rate we’ll probably have snow in July!  I swear, its like the hemispheres are reversing.  It was weird enough when I lived in South America to have Christmas in the middle of the summer.  I think I’m having relapses….

Identity Theft Really Ticks Me Off

Random Reviews 18 Random Comments

Ok, I say that but as far as I know I have never been the victim of it. I just think it’s ridiculous that people will go out and do this kind of stuff. It really really messes up your life! And it seems to be getting easier for crooks and more common.

Well, I think we’ve all heard the ads for a company called LifeLock. You know, the guy that gives out his social to show his confidence in the product. That’s pretty encouraging if you ask me!

I think the coolest thing about this company is their $1,000,000 guarantee. Here’s what it says on their site about it:

If your Identity is stolen while you are a member of LifeLock, we’re going to do whatever it takes to recover your good name. If you need lawyers, we’re going to hire the best we can find. If you need investigators, accountants, case managers, whatever, they’re yours. If you lose money as a result of the theft, we’re going to give it back to you.

We will do whatever it takes to help you recover your good name and we will spend up to $1,000,000 to do it.

Now that’s a guarantee!

Ok, so there’s another random product review for you today. That seems to have been the theme for the last day or two, I hope you all don’t mind. We’ll see what randomness comes in next week!

My New T-Shirt is Almost Here!

Just Random! 10 Random Comments

I’ve needed a new t-shirt for quite a while now. You know, something to wear on the weekends that I probably can’t wear to work. So about a week or so ago my sister pointed me to shirt.woot.com and I found some really cool ones! It’s fun because they offer a new shirt design pretty much every day.

Ok, so the shirt I got is this one:

I LOVE IT!!! I just thought it was really really clever and just fun. Any hey, my wife liked it to so that cinched the deal.  I was hoping that it would be here today (cause then I would have worn it to work), but I guess I’ll have to wait a few more days.

In the past I’ve always been a fan of t-shirts from places like In-N-Out, Fuddruckers (I did the 1 pound challenge for a t-shirt from them…), and the like.  But lately I haven’t seen any that I really liked, so I had to find alternatives.

Now I need to find some more shirts that I can wear to work…

Car Door Magnets!

Random Reviews 7 Random Comments

Simple Randomness Car Magnet!I’ve used VistaPrint for things in the past like business cards, and if you have a business where you need some business cards they do a really good job! They have a bunch of free templates you can use, or you can design your own as well. My wife designed a really cool one for me that I was using for a project I was doing a few years ago.

Well now they also offer door magnets! These seem to be a good thing for some on the road promotion of your business. It seems that everywhere you go these days you see a car with a magnet or window stickers promoting their business. I’m sure it’s great for getting a tax write-off as well.

Just for fun I used their design tool and did a car magnet for this site. Granted, I don’t think I’d ever do a car magnet for this blog, but it was fun anyway! This is one of their free templates (which they had a lot to choose from), but you can also upload your own images as well.

Anyway, VistaPrint is great for getting all the stuff you need to promote a business whether it be business cards, announcements, rubber stamps, checks, and now they also have car door magnets. They have great prices too, so I’d check them out if you need that stuff!

I’m Setting Some Basic Exercise Goals

Random Thoughts 5 Random Comments

I used to go to the gym a couple of times a week and really enjoyed it.  But since having a new baby and my wife getting her gallbladder out I haven’t really had a lot of time to get the exercise that I’d like to.

But I’m not giving up my goal of building a better body!

So, I’ve decided to take on a new challenge.  I’m back on my no candy goal (I wrote about that previously, but didn’t make the 3 months :-( )  and I’m going to start doing at least some sort of exercise every day.  Yesterday I did 60 pushups during the day, today I’m going to do 60 situps throughout the day.  I also picked up a set of elastic bands that I can use to do some exercises as well.  And maybe to mix things up I’ll do some yoga here and there.

Health is very important to me, and honestly I’ve been trying to do better at exercising for a couple of years now.  Well, this is the year!

By the way, if any of you buy bodybuilding supplements like creatine and whey, you should check out the site SupplementPricing.com.  They do price comparisons on a lot of supplements so you get the best deal.  Just a side note! :-)

These are Huge Fans!

General 5 Random Comments

I’m mainly blogging about this because I think it’s cool:

Granted, I don’t own a business that has a warehouse or anything like that, but I did work for a guy once that did and his warehouse would get really really hot in the summer. He didn’t have any Ceiling Fans in the warehouse, but he should have used BigAssFans. These things are huge! Their idea is that they move a lot of air without having to do it at high speeds. And they have a really cool donkey on their site. Really unique business name, and a pretty cool product (get the pun…I know, pretty lame but I couldn’t resist!)

Bluetooth Headsets are Officially the New “Status Symbol”

Random Gripings 19 Random Comments

Sony Ericsson HBH-PV710 Bluetooth Headset for $69 - Sale price by khanharis28, FlickrJust yesterday I was walking out of a building and I saw 2 guys about my age walking out of another door.  But one of them had a rather large bluetooth headset on his ear.  They were talking back and forth and it just got me thinking, “Why does he still have his headset on?  He’s talking to his friend, why doesn’t he take it out?”

Has anyone else noticed that this is becoming more and more common?  People are just walking around with their headsets on their ears whether they’re using them or not.  It seriously has become the new status symbol!

Look at me, I have a Bluetooth and you don’t!

I just don’t get it.  Now, I can see using a bluetooth when you’re driving your car or doing something where you need to talk on the phone but need both hands free.  For those situations I get it.  But do you really get that many phone calls that you need to have this thing attached to your ear 24/7?  Next thing you know we’ve going to hear about ‘bluetooth surgery’ were people are having these things implanted into their heads.  Maybe that will be the next status symbol….

For those of you that have bluetooths, please be polite to your friends and take it off when you’re talking to them!  Also, it drives me NUTS when people are walking around talking loudly on them in the store…

Thank Goodness for Rockstars!

Food 10 Random Comments

Rockstar by cwalker71, FlickrNo, not the metal head, long haired freaks. I’m talking about the energy drink!

So with a new baby, wife going through surgery, and being incredibly busy I find that Rockstars are a great way to keep me going through the day. I’ve tried other energy drinks, but I think they have the best flavor. Oh, and by the way, this is not a sponsored post at all, I just wanted to talk about them today!

Have you ever tried the Juiced flavors? Man, I must say that I love the mango-orange-passion fruit one. Good stuff.

One downside to Rockstars and other energy drinks: I hear that if you drink them a lot they really reek havoc on your teeth. I don’t really know if this is true or not, but I’ve heard info that says so. Also, I really really don’t want to become caffeine dependent. I know some people that were personally on some level dependent on caffeine and they would get these horrible headaches unless they had some caffeine. Not good!

So for now, I’ll use a Rockstar when necessary, but eventually I’m hoping life gets back to a somewhat normal sleeping schedule. I can’t wait until this new baby starts sleeping through the night…..

An Education Program That Makes a lot of Sense!

General 13 Random Comments

One problem that I’ve had with the current higher education system is that it doesn’t offer a lot of (if any) real world experience while you’re going through getting an ‘education.’ I always had this thought of some kid going through college working at some fast food joint, but then when he gets out of college he has no real work experience to draw on when applying for jobs. Not a good picture!

Well I just recently heard about a much better idea - co-op education! The idea is that you work for a couple of months in a company related to what you’re studying, then you go back to school for 3 months and so forth. So you learn the stuff in school, then go apply it in the real world immediately. This is great!

Right now number one ranked university with co-op programs is Kettering University. They offer a lot of programs such as engineering co-op programs for students studying industrial engineering, and many other programs as well. In fact, US News and World Report has ranked Kettering University as “the #1 University in the nation for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering” in its annual “America’s Best Colleges Guide for 2008″. This is definitely worth checking out if you’re thinking of going back to school or have kids getting ready for college.
